Hey there Barracuda lovers, does anyone recognize this car?The handwritten note at the bottom was from Ray Kobe.I will add that when I asked how the "GOLDFISH" did when they did race,he said "We beat it regularly". :violin: POOR Hemi, just goes to show you bigger is not always better, not that I wouldn't own a hemi if I could get my hands on one.

hpe600rt,When Ray Kobe related that story to me he also mentioned they had different engine setups for those kind of match races that were not F/S,as a matter of fact there is a letter from him about it and there is mag. article I have that details one such setup when they raced a corvair gasser and blew it's doors off,I will post the mag. article and I will look for the letters I have from Ray,my wife may have stashed those so that may take a day or so so for now check out this article from Cars Mag. S/S & F/X June '66 by Martin Schorr.I do not doubt the voracity of either of those two gentleman based on thier creditionals and reputations.[IMG]

hpe600rt,You might find that reading this article on the original '65 Hemi Under Glass will tell you it only had 600 H.P. not the 2200 H.P. that the '68 version had. http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/2010/08/12/well-drop-a-hemi-in-the-rear-and-run-like-hell-hemi-under-glass/

hpe600rt,I try to be as factual as I can because the car speaks for itself.I have 9 mag.articles the car was in plus all the stories the G.C.'s have told me to go on.During the peak years of the G.C.'s they had a stable of 6-8 cars at a one time and I think they had a total of 14 overall. The "GOLDFISH" and the car in the photo below are the only two ORIGINAL G.C. cars left in exsistance and any others that claim to be are replicas. We didn't have time to go in the basement (what's down there?)the day we were there what with the car show and G.C.'s reunion show and dinner but I was impressed. My boys and I really enjoyed the Military Vehicle section on the ground floor.I have Pics and a DVD of the reunion show that I am making a storyboard out of,along with the mags. and my pics of the restore.Hopefully it will look as good as the car and make a good display to have wherever I display/race the car.Thanx for keeping me honest,Brusco

1967 Barracuda fastback, the first AFX the G.C.'s made.Might even be the first Funnycar made, have to check on that.

hpe600rt,I missed out then, that sounds like the meat of the act at the museum.F/S stands for Factory / Stock class.I know what you mean about the learning curve of all this info.I THOUGHT I knew about Mopar muscle till I got to talk privately with the guys in the photo below, and a nicer, funny bunch of guys who shared some of thier trade secrets and memories with me about my car. They all had a special fondess for the "GOLDFISH" as it was not a Hemi car but could run with the best of them. Most of them, when asked during the Q&A portion of the renunion show,("Which one of the G.C. cars was your favorite?") said the "GOLDFISH".One of those trade secrets was that I have the FIRST Prototype pair of offset shackle mounts made by any Factory Engineers,G.C.'s were almost all Chrysler Engineers of one type or another.

If I were that lucky of a guy,the car withstanding of course I would walk out in my backyard and find a money tree with the $5,000.00 or so I want so I can finish this project sooner rather than later.LOL I keep looking by the way.

hpe600rt,what was most amazing to me was that after Ray introduced me (as the owner and restorer of the original ("GOLDFISH")and my family to them, they treated me like I was just one of the guys.Talk about being blown away.WOW! We talked on and on for hours about a wide variety of things, mostly the car and their experiences and anecdotes. But I felt most honored when, after they met and talked to me they decided to add me to the official roster of the "GOLDEN COMMANDOS" which they mailed me a copy of.Now that was something I could never have dreamed of when I started this project.I just wanted to build a fast street rod.I guess this turned out to be above and beyond that by a long shot eh?Brusco
