Dutch,Not sure what you are looking at but the fender wells on the sides were beat in by the G.C.'s with a large ballpeen hammer to accomodate the special fenderwell headers they made specifically for this car.Other than that maybe the sodablasting added that effect but I don't see it now that it is painted.

that explains...   do you have the headers with the car?

Dutch, No they have to be made.Cheapest estimate $1,500.00 to 2K.Let me dig out the pics I have of the originals and post them, they are wild looking to say the least but they were perfectly tuned and because of that they gained a lot of horses,I will find out the specs and post them too, before I start lyin'.Brusco

Dutch, here you go,the one and only set of headers ever made for the "GOLDFISH"

The other pics I have are too deteriorated to see clearly but you get the idea.Note that the turning radius is reduced sharply as you can see rubber burned onto the headers near the collectors from oversteering. The G.C.'s gained 25 H.P with these pipes. :wow:

I guess running the car 1/4 mile at a time helped,no time for heat to build up too much, but yeah, to drive it 120 mph knowing that you could blow your front tire at any moment.I CAN"T WAIT!!!

Hello everyone this is my first post. My father (Don Krom) owned the goldfish in the late 70's. I have been searching for photos of the car but haven't found any so far. Hopefully we will find some. as soon as i figure out how to post pics i do have a pic of one of his other mopar race cars. Great job Brusco with the progress of the goldfish looking great one day i will see it again up close.

Mopower56,WELCOME TO THE SITE AND MY THREAD!Yes you will see the car again,I give you my word on that to you and your father.Thanx for emailing me to start the ball rolling, any one who knows of any (and would share with the rest of the class)facts ,videos(8mm back in the day),pics or anecdotes about the car is greatly appreciated.I have done some pretty thorough digging to acquire as much true history of my project (as you can clearly see) because it means everything to me and I hope it means something and is interesting to others as well so I only want accurate info.Thank you for contributing since you and your father may be able to help with the previous owner. As I related in my email to you he (or his relatives) may hold the key to the missing years of the "GOLDFISH" The G.C.'s and I would like to fill in the blank years but a mystery adds a little intrigue to this historic car's story. This car has been a blessing (and a curse) to me.

:2thumbs: WAY cool thread brusco, love hearing stories on the old racing mopars of the sixties and seventies.your one very lucky fellow getting a car like this and it looks like your going to restore it right.  :ylsuper:
if you ever get up to B.I.R [brainard international raceway here in minnesota, count me in,i'll be there.been going up from st paul to the nhra nationals for 20 straight years now.........funny how you get hooked on these things lol.
like you said earlier,i also grew up in a mopar family,i think it started one day when my dad got a loaner from the local chrysler dealership, had his 66 fury in the shop, they gave him 69 440 roadrunner 4spd while his car was in shop.member him stoppingon the highway and just going through the gears time and time again.way to go dad, must be where i got it from.........
we'll keep in tune to your thread and keep up the good work  :working:

  Dave....................
