Sometimes she just doesn't like me in her "space".  So I make sure I pet her and hug her till she just gives up being a grump.  Builds character  ;D

Nanook hasn't been feeling well the past few weeks, after many tests and medications we took him for an ultra sound yesterday and found out he has an inoperable tumor in his liver, I'd cut my arm off if it would help. Gonna miss him. I'd rather face this than to never have had him at all, he's been a blessing in our lives.

Thats awful.  Can he be taken to a specialist?  I've never understood why some cases in  dogs are inoperable.  If it was a person, they would be able to fix it.  Why not with at dog?  Growing up, my husky had to be put down becasue of a tumor as well, but looking back, I would have taken him to every doctor in the north east before making that decesion.

Man 6pak, I really feel for you and your family. you would tell me about mornings with him in the snow. I never met him, but I know from all we talked about him, I'll miss him.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the thoughts. The mass is so large and has taken over so much of the liver that he wouldn't survive the surgery. I watched them do the ultra sound and it was pretty dissheartening to say the least, it wouldn't have taken a specialist to tell me the prognosis and this was a specialist brought in just for this and to assess the problem. Same thing happens with people unfortunatly but with people we can ususally catch it sooner cause they can tell you they don't feel too good and where it hurts and can start treatment sooner. We took him many months ago and the vet said it was atheritis and we started him on some anti inflamatories and it actually seemed to help for a while. Not looking for sympathy just wanted to share this with you, as you already know those of you who have posted on this thread, how close we can get to our pets and the pain that something like this brings to a family. If you haven't hugged your dog or pet today, probably should go do it and do it often!

It's always tough losing a friend, family member and pet.  Time is the only thing that can help ease the pain from my experence.  I had to put one of my best friends down not long ago and swore that I would never do that to myself again!!  But as time continues here in this plane of existance, the pain slowly fades away and soon another pet is in the picture.  You need to remember all the good time you have with your friend and not the loss that you suffered!!  Just remember that in time, you will see your friend again.    :dogpile:

I am so sorry to hear the news about Nanook.  Please take a second to read this:

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

"Just this side of Heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor, those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing, they miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent, the eager body quivers. Suddenly they begin to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together......."
