I need a little Tire size & selection help
« on: May 01, 2011 - 11:19:30 AM »
I think i want to run BFgoodrich 255/60R15 and 225/60R15

I see the the 225's are on back order so what else would work well with the 255's?

I am locked in on the 255 size, not interested in 275's as they are too huge......

What do you think? another brand? any other size combo? I didnt want to look through 34 pages for an answer......

I just put 245/60-15 BFG' on the front of mine.  Got tired of waiting for the 235's to become available.

I went with the Firestone Indy 500 tires . The traction is much better than the BFG's and they don't turn hard after the first season. I have them on both my Challenger and a BB Buick. For the money I love them. :2cents:

How much "huger" are the 275s over the 255s?  I have 235s on the back now....they measure 25"......I guess mine are worn pretty good.....LOL

The rpm/tie size calculator says a 235 would be 26" and the 275 is 28"

Thats two inches...an inch on a side.  That doesnt seem THAT much bigger.....knocks only 200 rpm off my tach on that calculator.....   :clueless:

Was planning those 235s tires for the front but damn they seem HUGe compared to the 195/65/15 I have there now...

I am looking for tires too and leaning to the Indy 500s....good price from a local firestone dealer.

Also trying to decide letters in or out...LOL

I think the concern with 275 might be more about the width?  Depending on the setup, it might be tight with the wheel well or leaf spring, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people run them.  As far as the fronts, 235 would be a good size, also.  I believe that is what I had before I moved up to 17" rims.

My uncle has 275's on most of his cars and they just look like Tractor tires.

I have a link on my other computer for size comparison's that i will post. I am leaning toward 215/60 or 215/65 but not sure yet.... i would rather smaller than larger up front as instead of 235.

Here's 295/50-15 BFG's.

Are those standard 8" rallye rims on back?  Did you have to move the springs in for them to fit?  I've got 275s on the back of mine right now but I really like the look of those 50 series on yours.

Thanks, Jim

If the standard size is 7", then these are 8".  If 8" is standard then they are 10".  I forget what I ordered 8 years ago.  I know they are bigger than the fronts.  I have the rear hanger offset.  No front offset.

I have seen the 275/60/15s on various cars at cruises and I dont think they look like tractor tires...LOL

Any luck with that link on size comparisons?

I know the 235/60/15s I have now are too small for my taste.....but I am thinking like you are, wondering if that same size isnt too large for the front.... :clueless:

BFG 275/60-15s on the rear of our Super Bee.  They look pretty good on it.

What engine and gears do you run?

Found this tire size comparison/calculator on the forabodiesonly forum

HEre is another, that allows 4 comparisons at a time

440-6 and a Dana 4.10.  The tach's not working, but I figure it runs around 3300 on the highway.  I drive it about 15 miles on the highway back and forth to one of the bigger shows here in town, and I never get the feeling like it wants to rip itself apart.

I am really struggling with deciding....dont want to take a step backwards after spending the $$$$ on the 3.55 upgrade.....
