Milkmann,if you can post a pic of your converter,I can tell you if it will fit or not. 
Thanks for the offer, the converter is still in the car, it's a stock converter for a 74 318 car so I am sure it's the small one. The whole tranny is not very big-but I am a farmer so I'm used to working on tractors and Class 8 trucks.
Am I correct to assume that only a super-HD 727 would have the large bolt pattern converter? Probably only OE on big blocks? Would there ever be any reason for me to need the large bolt pattern converter behind my mild 340? If I was ever to do anything radical to the motor, I would make sure to have it internally balanced and the offset weighted flexplate would no longer be needed.
I am thinking that there is no reason that the #10234 offered to me would not serve me well for any setup I might use with the present cast crank. If there is some reason it might not work, I'd rather hear it now instead of later.
