rallye rim advice please
« on: May 05, 2011 - 03:47:12 PM »

I'm looking to get an basic set of 14x5.5 rallye rims for a 70 318 barracuda.   Anything I should know or look for?  Not trying to get a date code match at this point.    any offset issues or making sure they are mopar? stamped of something?

Thanks in advance y'all

With those sized rims, you won't have to worry about backspacing or offsets. You can't put a tire on them big enough to get you in trouble.   :grinno:  Of course I'm saying this based on Mopar Rallye rims.

Look for ones that have the 72+ style center caps.  They will be a lot less money then correct numbered 1970 pieces.  You can always buy a new set of correct center caps down the road.

Make sure you measure the bolt pattern.  A-bodies had a smaller bolt pattern then the E-bodies.

THanks

THis was a set of 4 for 150, no ring and no centers.   Not sure what a good price is?  they seem to be had to find.

A few years ago I sold a set of 4 Rallye's that were 15" for $300  THey were complete with ceter caps and trim rings.  They were off of a 76 Charger.  Wheels with the correct part #'s for 1970 would have been worth a good deal more.

$150 sounds like a good deal to me.

Just took a set of those off my 73 Barracuda and those are some small wheels!  I don't think you can put anything bigger than 225/70 x14's on them.  That or 215/70x14's are probably what you'll have to choose between which will look stock if that's your goal.  Most everybody is going to 15" rims because 14" tires are getting increasingly harder to find.  Even with 15" you don't have a bunch of choices, especially in performance tires.  But if dead stock is the look you're going for it, the 14's will do that.

I see them at the swap meets for $20-25 each, frequently. (Bare wheels, no caps or rings)
