My new stroker burning oil ***Engine pulled***

My new 500 stroker in the Charger has 250 miles, yesterday when cruising and giving max 1/2 throttle it starts smoking oil like crazy and does every time when accelerating
heavy, not on idl and not when cruising calm. What can it be? Pistonrings, cylinderwalls or valvesealings? Can I meassure anything before teardown?

Engine has Eddies out of the box, Diamond pistons with moly rings. Found it already strange when installing a PCV valve just before that the breather on the other side still gives "smoke".

I have a TTI x-pipesystem, are they connected? if yes, problem could be located on one side and not both?



Last year when i was finished with the long resto the new tranny blew after 15 miles so this really kills my motivation.

Here are the plugs, all 8 even bad, they only have 50 miles on them. I guess this means bad machinework or something with the pistonrings?

Damn, that's worse than I had after my engine rebuilt. If you dont get lotsa blue smoke on startup that's NOT valve stem seals (you have brand new edelbrocks so it's almost impossible), I think it's the rings... If both banks are oiled it's unlikely head gasket or cracked heads.

I was in the same boat - overhauled engine fouling plugs with oil but in my case absolutely no somoke while riding (cruising, accelerating, engine braking) just large cloud of smoke upon start and lots of oil deposit in chambers.

Man those plugs are WET. Did you have the heads taken apart and checked before installing them?
 Tight valves from the manufacturer are kinda common. You could do a compression test. but
with that much oil in the cylinders I don't know if you could get an accurate "dry" reading. And it seems
a bit strange that it started doing it suddenly.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Who built the motor?  You could probably go back to them and show them what is going on.  250 miles, that is pretty soon.  Moly rings take a little longer for break in, but that should still not happen.  I would suspect rings are too small allowing blow by?  Sorry for the run of bad luck...the car is a beauty though  :2thumbs:

with that much oil in the cylinders I don't know if you could get an accurate "dry" reading. And it seems
a bit strange that it started doing it suddenly.

Suddenly we have to take with some care, I've actually never used any throttle untill now.
No smoke at startup, comes only when engine is warm.

I built the engine so no warranty except maybe for the machinework. I've built several engines without any issues but you never know.

Intake leak maybe, pull the intake and look for oil tracking in the ports.  Thinking of easy fixes for you!

Any ideas are welcome Tom  :2thumbs: Can it have anything to do with me installing a PCV valve? Blowby getting the plugs oily when only cruising?
Maybe my stroker needs burning some rubber? have maybe been to easy on the pedal?

this is definatly not normal , I came across an engine like this & the engine machine work was garbage , it used more oil than gas , we had to replace the block & start over , they even put the pistons in the wrong holes & bent 4 of the intake valves , ring gaps were lined up ,

This was my thought too.  There is a ton of oil getting in to the combustion chamber.  Maybe a valve seal, but on all 8 cylinders? I would look into problems with the rings.  Do a compression or leakdown test to be sure.  Maybe you were too easy on it and the rings didn't seat properly?

Start with compression test first.  Sounds like a ring issue, but need to first see what compression you have.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

the one we got when disassembled had tapered cylinder walls & over .008 piston wall clearance , no way the rings could seal it
