Torque boxes?    I'll take as much info including pix as possible.

   Under the car just in front of the hangers under the rear seat is where the rear torque boxes get welded and in the front the are behind the wheel opening under the floor board. If you had a 318 car likely the factory did not weld them in, If you had a 340 or 383 youy may have gotten the fronts, 440 and hemi cars got the fronts and the rears, they box in the unibody frame rail making a stirdier and stronger ride. Just search Tourqe Boxes on this site and you will get lots of threads with pics.

My father in law did a resto 70 cuda on the rotisserie from a 318 car that had been converted to drag with a 440 but no boxes. The floor pans had hundreds of stress cracks. I think you are right on the verts

Welcome Laurie! I spent 3 years restoring my '70 and all the while this group of Moparheads proved invaluable. I would forget how something was supposed to go back together, and within minutes find the answer. If it was an unusual problem I would post a question and had my answer (most of the time with detailed pics) by the end of the day or the next at worst.

Good luck, it will be the most rewarding (and at times frustrating) car related thing you will ever do!

Awesome pics of the torque boxes. Now I have questions:
(should this be on another thread?)

To my very uneducated eye, the 'torque box' seems to be an additional piece
of metal welded to the bottom of the frame and the side of the car, is this on
all four corners? Is this additional piece added to mitigate twisting moments on the frame?
If they were only on the front or on the rear, I would think it would be minimize a bending moment...

Going to ask a dumber question: do both rear wheels supply power?
Weren't there cars out there where only one rear wheel supplied power?

Difference between Open and Closed rearends Yes. Posi unit's will spin both tires transfering power almost equally. Lockers do not give and limited slips allow for one tire to slip a bit.
