No, I have not done anything about this. Spark plug wires hang were they like to...

Would like to take the engine out, put a new, undented, oil pan on. Remove the heads, new head gaskets, put the brackets and heat shields on. Then repaint the engine.

Ya know I had this same question I have an original 383 ,

and I have those spark plug covers and on one side  (passenger)there 2 head bolts holding them on,and on the driver side there is one ,

and I was afraid to loosen them due to any issue that might arise , so humm I guess I will have to leave em :dunno:

the lower row of head bolts is so close together I would think you will be ok to loosen one at a time retorque the 2 beside them or all you can get to

Maybe I'll wait to do this as part of the Winter 2012 project list.  That way it won't turn into a drawn out project over the summer.
