1/4 glass
« on: May 17, 2011 - 08:27:15 PM »
Does the 1/4 glass need to be attached to the track in order to be installed in the quarter?  I tried sliding the track in from the top but it wouldn't go in.  I slid it inside the quarter from the large hole on the inside.  Do the 1/4 fuzzies need to be removed in order to get the glass in?

Also, can anyone recommend a glass polishing kit?  I've got some scratches in the 1/4 glass that I'd like to polish out.  The glass won't be perfect but it should look better after polishing.  Any tips?  Thanks

Also, I need to remove the stainless channel that holds the 1/4 glass seal.  It is riveted on.  Can I use small screws to reattach it?  I thought I heard that 70's used screws.

I just installed the 1/4 glass into my 74 Barracuda. I installed the track first, then the regulator. Glass went in  last and attached with 2 bolts with glass all the way down. snapped in the window fuzzy last, John.

Thanks John.  I just figured it out.  I removed the fuzzy and the upper interior panel bracket and the glass slid right in from the door opening.  I'm just test fitting it right now.  I still need to polish the stainless at the front of the glass.

John, what did you do to reinstall the stainless piece after polishing...or did your stainless not need any polishing?

I found that the ovaled holes in the quarter panels for the 1/4 window fuzzies were not stamped in the right place.  I drilled some small holes in the fuzzies and I'm attaching them with the same screws that attach the door fuzzies.

I'd still like some opinions on glass polishing.  Thanks
