I'm not looking to drag it, just mainly street playing. What is your thoughts on the info for this set-up and my street playing?Well that would depend on what your "playing" with on your street. I know of a Mustang 5.0 here that's putting 1135 HP at the wheels with a 331 Cu. In. engine.

440 and 727 combo

Balanced with steel Crank
Deep Oil Pan
294 Grind Extreme Energy Comp Cam
Ported Heads with larger Valves (346 Castings)Didn't mention what size valves are "larger" and "ported" could mean alot of different things. Are they just cleaned up and gasket matched?, or do those wedge heads look like a set of NASCAR "Yates" heads ports?

Flat Top Forged PistonsDepends on whether or not they have valve reliefs or not as to the compression with those open chamber heads
Torker IntakeNot a bad intake, but certainly better ones out there
Holley 850 Double pumper with electric ChokeThat's alot of carb
Alum Valve covers
Electronic Dist.Didn't mention what type of ignition...MSD??

727 Trans
Manual Valve BodyWill get old on the street very fast
Deep Pan
Super Street Fight Stall ConvertorDidn't mention stall rating, or rear gear the car this is going in will have either

Thank you in advance.

Thanks Cooter,

Maybe an input on a particular item from the list and thoughts on that?

Do you have any items listed? If so, what? And what are your thoughts on your stuff?

What manual valve body are you using? Make sure at has a low band apply.

Cope Racing ( John) is the y guy to talk to. Great parts and knows his stuff!

Rest looks good, not over the top, will make great power and a great driver too.

Thank you very much djwhog!
I found out tonight it does have the low band apply and it's forward, not reverse.
I will contact John as well.
I appreciate your thoughts and input!!!

Well, Compared to most on here, I built "Junk" 440's...you know the ones, Iron heads, home port work, Big valves, big 'ol honkin' Solid lifter cam, open plane intake, and headers, with a shot of go-go juice.
I've never had the money for Aluminum heads, and multiple stroker crank kits.

When I build an engine, it has to last for at least 10-15 years. Not something built on Sat., blown up at the track on Monday, and three credit cards later, running on Wendsday...I can't afford to make a mistake when deciding on a roller cam. I have to make it run on motor, or cover it up with nitrous and force it to work as I have one shot at it...I know guys with at least 6 Roller cams on shelves saying things like this one didn't work, or that one didn't perform with the combination, etc. I've run the very engine you have described here and had moderate success with it...I've also had my ass handed to me in a B-body with a 4 gear with the same combo too "Playing around"...

I understand Cooter,
Maybe my post had a little more "grey area" than I originally thought and I appoligize for that. I guess (with the info provided to me) I was looking for pros and cons to a set-up in the manner of the details provided. I understand there is more to just a cam, heads and carb but was just getting a fill for what it was and maybe what others experienced with something simular.
Right now, the motor/trans is in a 1970 RoadRunner and has about 8,000 miles on it, most of it street. I plan to see/hear it in a couple days but wanted to get a feeling from others and their experience.
Maybe something similar with some or most of the info I provided.
I do thank you for responding and your input,
Tom
