To those who have bypassed the factory tranny cooler/radiator configuration commonly found on V8/727, can you say with any certainty, that it decreased the engine's operating tempearture after making this single change?

I prefer to run it thru the radiator cooler and the external cooler in order than the tranny fluid get up to temp quicker in cold weather....but, in cases where I have bypassed the radiator cooler, I have seen five to eight degrees cooler coolant temps.  The better your radiator and cooling set up, the less difference it makes.

I have done this on several cars that I have owned, I have not noticed any real difference in the temperature of the engine. If the radiator was partially blocked and you disconnected the trans lines then you might see a slight difference. The heat exchanger in the lower tank is not that big and not very efficient, ask any fraud owner, theirs are probably the smallest.  :2thumbs:

It Has to make some difference , you are feeding 150-170* into the bottom of the rad so it will lighten the load on the cooling system although the trans temp at idle is generally cool were the engine needs the most cooling capacity
