I read somewhere that there were 3 Burnt Oranges available for a while in 1970. 
Burnt Orange Metallic, Medium Burnt Orange Metallic and Deep  Burnt Orange Metallic.

Anyone know anything about this?

BTW, Burnt Orange is a great colour, unusual but not showy.

Yep Yep 3 burnt orange
It gets a lot of attention at crusin and trophys at carshows.
The interior nonmatching shows off the black.
Should have a luggage rack w/white top.
Second pic is what it wouldlook like with correct dash pad.

FK5 is a great color.  My B-Body is in Burnt Orange with white interior and vinyl top from the factory.

My Gran Coupe was origionally Deep burnt orange and I did not care too much for it,  had it been the lighter brighter burnt orange from the factory I would have kept it that color. Especially with the black interior.

I'm only familiar with FK4 & FK5. I don't think the lighter K4 was offered on Dodges, just Chryslers & Plymouths.

FK4 is quite similar to the modern PV6 "Sunburst Pearl".

FK5 is the color on a Challenger for sure :ylsuper: Go with it, since its a V-code and all :cheers:

I just double-checked my chip charts and the 1970 Plymouth colors were FK3 and FK5. My mistake.

Hi Guys,

Not near the point of picking up a spray gun, but I have done enough reading to tell me that this is a hard color to apply.

Someone mentioned that it should be sprayed all at once or you will get shade changes.   even if I keep the car on rotisserie how can I paint everything at once? door jams, trunk, underside, engine area... seems non realistic. 

Any tips/guidance is appreciated !!

I know with any base coat metallic u must paint the whole car (exterior) at once or the blend will not match.
Doing the jams and engine compartment firsts should not matter. Your gun must be setup with test spray before
attempting the full car.
I am waiting for my trunk lid for a luggage rack to be painted by a paint shop for a year now.
Tom and I had a paint supplier photo the paint code two weeks ago and it still is not painted.
He purchased the paint while we were there.
I intend to stop by Tom's shop tomorrow Wed. and ask why the delay and if as u mentioned hard color to apply.
We are taking a chance on the old and new paint matching with out blending the surrounding area.

Sadil340 told me the same thing about painting parts and then doing the exterior in one shot with all panels attached for best color match.

There is a thread that also mentions that the color changes depending on the amount of coats applied.

It's almost enough to get me thinking about another color!

I am partial to FK5, and I wouldn't think twice about respraying a CuriousGoPlumTwist car that color, and I am shocked that with the increasing popularity of Earth Tone cars, a resprayed car will command a premium.

Here is a really nice R/TSE I spied at Cruising The Coast when I was stationed in Gulfport last year. This is the car, I would've ordered in the fall of 1969, albeit with a four speed. I dig the credit option cloth insert seats. Is this someone's car here??

I had good pictures of my car when it was new so we had something to match to when mixing the paint. If you like I can hook you up with the guy who sprayed the car - I'm sure he would be glad to divulge the formula. The first parts he sprayed looked too brown so he added some red and it came out perfect - except for the part where he didn't spray the exterior in one shot and you can see some shading differences.

since I have not gone for blasting yet, the rear speaker deck has a very clean coat of the original color to match (just need to buff it out a little)... I like the stronger orange hue over the brown.   

the posted pictures from you guys look very brown in the shade and orange in the sun.   I think my color comes closer to sadil's.

As for mixing, I thought you just order the PPG code and spray away?   :pullinghair:
