As for mixing, I thought you just order the PPG code and spray away?   :pullinghair:
I'll make a call today and post what the deal was with regards to the paint.

 :iagree:

Software inhanced color on my vertible.
:droolingbounce:  closely matches sadil's car I think?

Would it be safe to say there was factory variation of this color?    If I end up with something that matches the "inhanced photo" would purists jump on it or would they not be able to determine if OEM shade or not?  :clueless:

  great thread, thanks!

Hi.
Hope no one takes offence to my opinion...

A friend of mine choosed to modify the burnt orange color on his toy,...and it's drop dead beautiful...
....maybe this car has been discussed ealier in another thread?..,I post his homepage anyway...

http://www.cuda70.no/

My opinion is that there are too many original cars at shows.....I feel I've seen them all before...
I want to see something different from time to time,.... even if not all modifications is to my personal taste....
Totally a fan of -80's style on old mopars....= wide rear tires, chromed details under the hood, twin rear antennas, etc, etc... :bananasmi

Funny you should say that, my first car was a 73 340 cuda black on black 4spd.   It was stock and a beauty... What did I do? put airshocks to jack up the back and put huge mono tires in the back, then tinted the windows.   Did it look good? yea I guess, but it handled like a sled and tires rubbed the wells,  looking back I slowly ruined that car doing the 80s stuff to it  :banghead:...  something I regret to this day.   But hey it was the 80s and I was in high school!   :icon16:

THanks for the cuda70 link, that color is very nice and he has the paint code listed.

 Passion Orange         'CUDA         :jumping:

I want 1   :worshippy

Who makes the paint? PPG? DUPONT??
Talked to my friend that has a paint shop,
If you are going to paint any metallic, all doors, fenders hood trunk lid should be on the vehicle when u are ready to paint the full exterior,
1,  Metallic flows different on flat surfaces as the trunk lid, roof and hood. You want to blend the hood and top of fenders, trunk lid and deck at same time.
If the hood is standing straight up when u paint it the metallic will flow different than laying down. If the doors are lying on flat surface the quarter panels and fenders will not match.
2.  Have blend ready for 3 coats, 15 minutes in between coats.
3. Top off with 4 coats of clear.

I'm sort of dealing with a similar although not quite as high value of a car dilemma. While my 70 Cuda is not a V code, (its an N code) it is an original J5 Cuda (BS Car) Problem is, i'm sick and tired of the green. I want something new but love my Cuda. I'm thinking of B5 or B3. Personally, like others have said. If you are keeping it. Paint it how YOU want it. If you are selling it. Go to original color.

Keep the burnt orange metallic pics coming, I love the color! One day I'll own a vehicle in that color.....its always in my top 3 colors for pretty much every performance car.

For what its worth, my R/T SE was originally F8 green and as you can see from my avatar, it isnt anymore. My color change decision was easy because I didnt have an original drivetrain, but even if I did - It's MY car, so I built it the way I wanted to. If I would have painted my car F8, everytime I saw an orange challenger I would have kicked myself in the ass for doing something based on another person's beliefs.

I really like the lime green!  and love the orange, which would be one of choices for a color.

I had friends stop in over the weekend and notice the speacker deck, which has the original color that I buffed out.

They all pretty much said; " it that the color ?" as in yuk!    :roflsmiley:

followed by "I understand, you have to restore it to the original color".   :dunno:
