To bad its not the long lost original...  Although I did see this car the other day on ebay and I saved the pics because it was a round tail light car with a Shaker Hood.

Alan the original is still out there!

Why, just the other day, I met a guy at a bar who says he bought this car new.  Said it even had a six pack on it!

:clueless: Was that Six Pack on it or in it, like in the trunk?  :roflsmiley:

The point I was trying to make was they use to say years ago only 7 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertibles were made. Thatw as back in the mid 80's (some of you were still riding tri-cycles LOL!!!) There are lots of cars out there that werent supposed to be made. I even remeber a 73 or 74 6 pak Roadrunner that was in a magazine a few years ago. Never say never!!!!

Hey T/A cuda, That was what I was going to say about this thread. It was a '74 RR in either Mopar Action or Mopar Muscle. It was found in direlect condition, minus the powertrain and a lot of key parts. The car did however, have a "V" in the dash vin, and the 3/8" fuel lines! I do remember seeing a really nicely done '72 Hemi 'Cuda at the nats five or six years ago, the owner legitimately did NOT try to pass it off as original, but the only things that weren't kosher were the vin and fendertags, and the obvious '72 model year. This thing was well put together, and all the requisite hemi parts, minus the hemi fenders, were there!

Also, in 1972, Chad Everett starred in "Medical Center", the '72 Challengers were '71s with the nose and tail panels, and the fenders changed out to the later style turn signals. Part of me wants to say that Barris did the conversions, but I can be wrong...

I have heard stories that there were about 30-odd T/As for a '71 production run that were converted back to 340 Challengers. I can believe that, I have seen the 4 barrel air cleaner that had the snorkels blocked off, and a rubber seal that mated to the bottom of the hood. That could be an over the counter part from 1970, as I think the T/A hood could be purchased at the dealership thorough Direct Connection. Off the top of my head, I can only think of three non-t/a cars that had the t/a hood, El Hemi (which originally had a dual snorkel hood), the triple black r/t se (possibly destroyed in the eighties, existing as a build sheet found in another car), and Patrick's red hemi...Granted these air cleaners (except the hemi) do plausibly prove an argument that Chrysler had provisions to manufacture a non-multi carb T/A, they certainly do fan the flames!

Yeah I remember that article. Had to be a typo. A 440-6  two full years after production ceased is more than just amazing, its impossible. There was an article a while back about a scamp with an H for the engine designation. Apparently the guy paid a large down payment to get the car and then got let down by e-booger when he told him it was a typo. The guy sent in his build sheet which showed the engine/trans.

If I remember correctly, that car had the matching door tag, as well as 3/8 Fuel lines. The same cat that made the '70 Daytona probably did this thing, too...
