I read this whole thing and it was quite an initiation even though I would really like to see a factory original 72 hemi cuda.

I read somewhere that the mob squad Challenger is really a '71 that was updated with the '72 parts for the show.

  It was common practice to do that to update the car without having to buy a new car or in this case there were no '72 Ebody convertibles.  I think they did the same for Mannix.  In the original Gone in 60 Seconds, the car stolen in the beginning is not a '72 Challenger but actually a '70 or '71.  I have info on it in a very old thread, VIN info and all.

I just realized by looking at the side marker lights is another way to see that it is not a '72.

After 3 1/2 years on this site, I finally passed my initiation.   lol

Holy crap guys I just found it. I never paid attention to my vin# before but my Cuda is a very early 72. I just checked the vin and it starts off BS23R!!! I guess someone pulled the Hemi out years ago and stuck in the 340 that is now in it. I guess I just ended this tread. BTW the opening bid is $2,000,000!!!
