Original 72 Hemi Cuda

Okay, it's aken me 3-1/2 years and over 1500 posts but I finally readt this thread     I guess I am officially initiated   

Yeah , I found the car about a year and a half ago. It was in very bad shape and setting in a junk yard. Red with black interior. dana 60, hemi 4 speed. The fender tag and dash vin was still on it. But it had been rolled. I bought the car and parted it out. It was the only 72/74 ralley dash car I had ever seen with an 8k tach. The build sheet was under the back seat, but it is in tiny pieces. I have a few parts left from parting it out. like the power windows, 6 way seat, rim blow wheel, 3 speaker dash with fm and cassette on the console. The shaker hood was gone, but the guy at the junk yard said he knew where it was and it could be bought. I told him I was getting the car from him to sell the parts on ebay. I still have the hemi tho.  But the engine came with 2 thermoquad carbs on it. Im trying to get the build sheet together to verify that.

I had a 72 also, I'm not sure what kind of engine it really had, Has anyone ever heard of a ball stud Hemi, I never heard of one either, I thought it was someone's idea of a joke so I parted it out, I think the engine is out in the barn somewhere, It has big valve covers but the spark plugs don't go through the valve covers like a 426, The valve covers were painted with black krinkle paint, My car was like Al's, it had a 4-speed and a Dana

How can that be? It never made it to production. I know of only one car that has one. I'll find the pic of it.

The guy I bought it from told me it was really rare, I blew that off as the usual sales hype, I was just looking for a good driver at the time, That was back in '75, This guy said he bought it from someone that worked at Chrysler, He told me the guys name was Huber or Hoover or something like that,

I'd love to see pics of it and I'm sure everyone else too. Here's the one owned by John Aruzza. I found this article in my rag collection library. issue: June 2007 Mopar Action. Blue notchback Barracuda had one put in after production.

I was starting to smell a skunk on your story once I saw Hoover in the article I posted. 
I knew there was no way he had 2 of them.

Yes I assumed it was to keep it alive.  I read this thread it seems like so long ago and have been on the quest ever since.

Woulda been cool if the ball stud hemis made it to production. I remember reading about them way back in the 80's I think in a Mopar Action or High Performanc Mopar magazine. Those were the 2 I bought fairly regularly. A few MCG's too.

I guess now is as good a time as any to confess that I have the one of one 71 R/T convertible with a hemi and a 4 speed.
