    alright, I talked to this guy that swears he has an early production 72 cuda that has a 426 Hemi in it from the factory. I told him that only the 70 and 71 cudas had the 426 hemis and he called me a liar. So before I drive an hour out to his place, is there a chance they put a 426 hemi in a 72 cuda. And if it is true what would this thing be worth.

    why do I feel stupid for even asking. I think this guy is a loser.

    It could be an early 72 production car, and it could have a Hemi in it, but it probably didn't leave the factory that way.

    According to everything I've read and everything I've been told . . . . they made 0 (ZERO) 1972 hemicudas!  But hey . . . . Anything is possible...    I have some ocean front property for sale in Colorado!   :grinyes:  :grinyes:  :grinyes:  :grinyes:

    I don't believe him BUT.....there is a 1971 Charger R/T that came from the factory with panther ppink paint (special request) that can be seen at www.pantherpink.com.  The broadcast sheet has a 3 number code of 148 and another that was documented by G. Govier was coded 999.  Maybe this car was special ordered in the same way this pink charger was.  Very interesting.  I am sure the VIN and broadcast sheet will have a lot to say.  Let us know what you find out Burpin.

    It's one thing to get a car with a "999" paint code. Thats not that all uncommon, I've seen several. But to get a 72 cuda with a hemi....when they were not smog certified....I'll bet my mortage against it. The only oddball engines that slipped out in 72 were the 440-6 B bodied cars...and there were only a very few; less than 4 by most accounts. And B bodies were still available with 440-4's in 72. Remember the 72 E-bodies were only available with 6's and smallblocks. So to make a one-off 72 hemi car, with all the special hemi-specific parts, and then have it get thru the last 30+ years with no-one ever hearing about it????

    Back 20 years ago when I had my 72 Challenger, at least 3-4 times a week people would come up to me and say:

    My dad / brother / uncle / grandpa / etc had the exact same car BUT it had the "big boy" motor you know the Hemi!

    This guy might be related to the couple hundred people I ran across!

    It is definitly worth checking out as you never know with our Mopars but I highly doubt it`s real.Usually they are wrong about the year or engine was swapped at some point but Hemi and `cuda in the same sentence would get my attention!

    I hate it when people have no clue what there talking about. Theres a 72 Charger not far from my house, i knew this guy who was a know it all and he just knew it was a 69 Challenger. His mind wad made. He would tell me i didnt know what i was talking about because he'd say" i was a live when them cars were made". "yep, my brothers friends moms sisters husband had a 69 plymouth challenger 309 hemi 6 pak.. drrp drrp drrrpp" you dumb ass.  :dupe:  :bs: theres a tone of these guys.  :banghead:

    Rev Ive got some ocean front property in Arizona (Ive got this thing with god hes going to make a big earth quake and California is going to break off into the water  :grinno:)

    I met a guy at smucks who arrgued with me that his buddy had an origional factory 340-6pack 71 Roadrunner, and he had a really fast, 488 lift 350 nova (ive got a 370deg cam shaft for sale) and was a complete bafon.           

    Dealer install I doubt it, factory installed NO  garage installed maybe, I think its probably a 225 car, ok 72 cuda must be a 318 and have barracuda badging.

    Possible a race car- doubt that

    Have him send you the V.I.N # and decode it (course no way to tell if its the true code but then if you get there and its different than what he says ...you know hes a B.S. artist

    Only way I know it can be real is if this was a "lost" car that the factory recoded up to the next years model. Reason I say this is, when I worked for Renault they found a wharehouse of LeCars that they had lost track of and these were 78 recoded and sold as 80's (with special discounts) since they had never been titled at that point. You could check the production date of like 2/78 but the title called them 80's
