The real question is why was the car built and remember now.... almost every one of the special cars that were made and escaped the crusher ended up within 250 miles of Detroit.  Just ask Steve Juliano :eekbig:

Did anyone see the car with the original motor in it ?
Maybe somehow it was a misstamping on all the body stampings + Vin # ??
Anyhow , good luck to the guy who owns it proving it's provenance if he/she can
If they could it may be the most expensive Hemi E-body hardtop in existence when finished....

Im chomping at the bit to find out if this is true or not.  I do beleive that this car could exist due to all the other weird stuff that has happend in the past but like everyone else I know that its probly not true.  I sure would have liked to have seen a pic of that carTom is talking about.

Time to put my 2 cents in.  I find it hard to believe, not impossible, but hard to believe.  If it's an early 72, it's got a shot.  But like most people here, I gotta see it to believe it, VINs, build sheets, window stickers can all be faked.  If it is a 72 Hemi, then it's more than worth having it researched by a person who can certify what it is.  You all can throw the names around.

For now, I'm from Missouri,

I guess that settles it, I am driving the hour it takes to get there and I will check this car out. He has already said he wont sell but I will take 5k with me anyways. I figure if it is a true 72 with a straight body with a real hemi in it, it has to be at least worth that.

Welcome T Quad and do come back when time allows. My .02 is never say never where these cars are concerned. This is right up there with the 72 Six Pack cars and the 72 Challenger converts used in the Mod Squad. I know the Mod Squad cars were'nt factory produced but still it's amazing what was put together during those years ::)
  Happy huntin Burpin :burnout:

I would still have to see it, I don't disbelieve it has an R in the VIN, very easy to get a mis-stamping.
These cars never even had big blocks installed from new, so I will remain a sceptic.
Nothing like a good controversy :grinyes:
