Stock stroke 440, all forged mopar bottom end, 10.2:1,
ported 915 heads with 2.14 and 1.81 valves,
comp XE275HL cam, 1.6 roller rockers,
port matched performer RPM intake, 850 dp holley, 1" wilson spacer,
TTI headers, milodon oil pan, MSD distributor, 440 source serpentine setup...

Can't wait to see how it gets the car going!

Here's a quick concept image of the exhaust for the car. This is my next job, and pretty much the last before I'm finished with the shell and can sandblast and paint it. I'll leave the DMH cutouts and the side exit pipes till after the car is done. Better start practicing some stainless TIG welding!

Looks great!    That's what I had in mind also. ( having T/A "style" side pipes on electric cutouts) 
FYI to save some cash/weight you don't really need the resonators. I have the 2 1/2" all stainless magnaflow system and it's pretty quiet when your easy on the throttle.....somewhat loud when your not.
 FYI 3" exhaust does have a drone to it. My BB Buick was horrible to drive in that respect. Maybe the resonators would help with the drone?

Definately pretty cool set-up and will sound like a b-17 when you uncork it. I was planning on putting electric cutouts in from summit just so I could hear her uncorked every once and a while.

I would like a fairly quiet exhaust with the cutouts closed, hence the extra mufflers. A bit stealthier around town, if you can call a 3" system stealthy.
I'll be making that last section (from the flanges just past the first mufflers) out of mild steel, to maybe lose some of the tinny stainless sound, and running it with a straight pipe at first, then adding
some extra mufflers if/as needed. I don't want no drone! And we have new, fairly restrictive, noise regulations here in NZ now.

But yeah, it should sound great letting rip with the cutouts open!

Darn government  just takes all the fun out of it huh! We have similiar laws here but the Harley motor bikes don't seem to fall into the same law?    They rattle my windows and that's "OK" but if a hotrod is too loud at the officers descretion they can nail you.  I've been told (but not 100% sure ?) that cutouts are illegal here for some stupid reason?  I'm just gonna say side exhaust was an option on these cars and I switch it to the back so the fumes don't come back in when stopped.

I've pretty much finished the work on the shell now. Lately I've squared up the suspension mounting points, which required some careful measuring and fixing, hence the string as a center line. The car was poorly built from the factory and had some defects from age and accident damage, so I wanted to get it as square as possible while it was in this stage.


To give you an idea of how poorly built these cars are check out these leaf spring hangers. The one on the right is standard (these are Dr Diff 1" relocation hangers, that move the springs in 1" either side, so you can fit larger tires) and the one on the left I've modified to square the spring eye mounting points from side to side. It was easier for me to modify the hangers than it was to try and correct the shoddy factory spring perches (which I stitch welded and added torque boxes to before noticing how misaligned they were). Amazing how different they were, my car must have been built on a Friday...


I added new perches to the diff housing, moving them in 1" either side.


And I also just received my third big shipment of parts from the states. Early xmas!


The big box contained new rear quarters for the car, which seem to fit up very nicely. New sheetmetal is a wonderful thing. There's a new tail panel, deck filler panel, trunk drops, and trunk gutters as well, along with a new roof I purchased a couple years ago.

Wow, that looks like almost 1/2" difference from hanger to hanger.
Did you make the one on the left?

Do you think you could have fixed the problem before you put in box's and welded everything?

I noticed different a marker light opening . Are you changing your cuda to 70-71 ?  Looks great!!!

Keeping the car a '73.
I bought the 70-71 quarters as the side marker lights are the easiest to delete. They're further away from the side crease.

Yeah the spring perches were way out! They were on totally different angles, and it was clearly just shoddy factory work.
I could have fixed it, but it was much easier to just rework one of the spring hangers to match the other side.

I have seen oval exhaust pipe which is great for low ground clearance , not sure why it is not used more but it could be ideal for the side exit exhaust
