    This is such a cool build.  Any reason u are sticking with drums in the back and not doing discs?

    Going with drums on the back till I know if I'm sticking with 15" wheels or going to 18".
    I'd like to keep the 15s as it suits the look I'm going for with the car, but if they are holding the car back in terms of performance then I'll go to 18s. So I don't want to go all out and stuff the best brakes I can afford into 15" wheels only to have to replace them soon after!

    Some photos from today.





    The car feels fantastic.
    Diff ratio is much nicer, the steering is fast and tight, the car corners flat, the brakes have plenty of power, and the body feels rock solid.
    Now I have to pull it all apart and put the shell back on the rotisserie to finish the paint...    ha ha, damn.

    The rears are only doing 20% of the braking anyway. With finned drums and good shoes, they will perform fine in all but the most serious racing applications at very high speed. You can even vent the drums further by putting inlet/outlet holes in the backing plates and adding duct work to force air into them.

    I've never understood the reason for putting discs on the rear of these cars. Drums are more than up to the task.

    They need to re-write the book for NASCAR.  Your car looks 100 times better than what they run today and would be more exciting to watch on the track!

    Until you get them hot and they lock up causing the car to spin,for the street yes drums are fine, but to may times on the track I have had rears lock up prematurely and cause a spin,

    Awesome progress Aaron...I've been following your blog for years now and it honestly gives me motivation to finish my car whenever I need it  :ylsuper:

    Did you paint the rims yourself or did you have someone powdercoat/paint them?
