Hey --
I have been working on heating issues (other post I have out).
Info -
car has stock 7 blade fan and factory 26" radiator.
I am curious -
What should the distance be between the front of the fan and the radiator core?
Also - how far into the shroud should the fan be?
Right now there is about an inch or so sticking out on the rear.
I am going to buy the Summit high volume pump that was recommended.
Does Mopar make different water pumps that vary in taller/longer housing to hub distances?
Thanks to all in advance..
Bill
Normally, the fan clutch would be around 3/4" from the radiator and 1/2-3/4 of the fan blade tips within the shroud for best pull. this maximizes the pull thru the radiator rather than allowing the fan to pull from outside of the shroud.
If you are seeing clogged tubes in the radiator, I would suspect that is the biggest problem you have.
You can buy spacers to go between the water pump and the fan to adjust the placement of the fan.
