727 Fluid Capacity with MP deep trans pan
« on: June 07, 2011 - 02:24:26 PM »
I've asked this question before and Terry gave me the answer but I cannot find it in search results.....

I just fixed a few leaks and I need to refill, I don't think the converter lost any fluid but a little is possible....

Anyone know how much this puppy holds? 8 qts?

Thanks! I have 2 gallons, so I will see how far that goes. I need to move it out of the garage soon so I'll let everyone know.

Is there anyway to get all the fluid out? I am considering putting Trick Shift fluid in.

Not unless you have a drain plug in your convertor. By the way B&M Trickshift is supposedly just Type F fluid. Just an FYI
If I cant fix it, it's broke

That's what I thought, but I thought you might have some magical Mopar trickery that no one else knew about. Thanks

I'd use synthetic tranny fluid. Been using it for 10 years. Tranny running great, and cooler.
72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

I've run Type F in all my mopar transmissions and never had a problem. Even hooked up a trans temp gauge
and never ran hot. It's all in the trans coolers I use evidently. I always bypass the radiator.

Well, I would guess that if you ran 1000 trannies hard for 100,000+ miles, and half had synthetic, and half
had dino juice, you would see fewer problems with those with synthetics.  Simply due to synthetics
lubricating better and lowering operating temperatures. The number one killer of trannys is heat.  But each to his own, as we have been going
back and forth on this issue for years.  Run what'ya brung!
