Finally done!
« on: June 07, 2011 - 04:21:59 PM »
It's been a while since I've been home long enough to actually visit CC.com.  I finally got my car back from the shop and had to throw a few pics on the site.  Thanks to all that helped with info thru the process.  Entered  Eastwoods Car of the Month Contest too.  The Buick.com guys are voting a 57 Buick into oblivian so I'm not sure my stands a chance.
OK, I just went over to Buick Club of America and saw the car I'm up against in Eastwoods Car of the Month Contest.  What I found was a blatant beg for votes by the members.  I said I wouldn't do this but the gauntlet has been thrown.

Damn...that's a nice looking car!

I like how the factory painted the tail stripes on instead of using a decal.  Did you have the stripe barried in the clear or can you still feel a tape line?

The BB Stripe was painted first then color.  Color went on and removed tape to let paint flash for each color coat.  Clear insured there is no ridge.  Looks and feels like it grew there.  The painter did a great job.

Very beautiful!  What is the name of the red?

Well, good question.  We tried to match the original FE5 Red.  There was one spot of the original red paint in the inner wheel well and that became our target.  I won't say it's an exact match to the original but we tried and it came out beautiful.  It does look different in sun vs. lights at night.  I think I like it better in low light  best.  Can anybody tell me if that's the way FE5 looked/changed originally?

And again, thanks for the compliments.

First of all. I'm impressed. Very nice bodywork and paint.

I recall a survivor 71 Hemi Cuda last year in Red.

That Red didn't jump out at you like yours is. So my 2 cents is you did good on the red tone color you went with. The 71 Survivor was almost like a blood red shade what I recall.
