« on: June 08, 2011 - 01:54:25 PM »

Brad,

I hadn't noticed any wearing on my clips yet. I did however notice wearing on the big metal plate on the hood held on by 4 screws. I'm sorry, I don't know what you would call that piece, but you know what I mean, right? I bought some after market stainless pieces, and they still look great.

The next size up is longer & a larger diameter ......could you use larger?   Or keep looking for an exact match

Hummm, just measured the laynard (sp?) and the hole in it is 3/16 ( .187") so I don't think it would work? Is that how hitch pins are measured , by overall length?  :dunno:
I think I'll try my local industrial fastener place first?

From what I've seen there are not standard sizes (were talking parts that have their origin with tractors), Diameter & Overall Length as well as the size pin it can fit around seem to be considerations......
I wonder if some stainless round stock could be had so that you could bend up your own.

My" assembly" is stainless,as in the actual pin and hood plates but the hitch pin is not? So yours is? Cool! they must have gotten Chinese parts now!

I know Lowes and home depot sell them in the hardware dept. Don't know if they are stainless.

My hood plates were getting grooves from constant removing clip,
Removed them and put them to the bench buffing wheel. like new.

I made these for my car out of solid stainless steel for the same reason. I now decided that I am not gonna use them  as I am going with a solid steel with black oxide finish with black hood pins on a black car. The second picture is the bottom.
