Anyone ever notice the door window frames on the challenger in death proof?  Weird.

Maybe a roll cage of sorts? :dunno:

Nah. Just makeshift door frames. When the chick jumps on the bonnet, they have to tie the belts she holds, onto something. Sometime during production they've realised the Challenger doesn't actually have door frames, so they had to mock some up.

Just in case anyone is curious, I freeze framed the VIN numbers of the stolen Challengers from the Original Gone in 60 seconds a long time ago.  Here's the info:

Both cars were '70 Challengers.  One unfortunately was a '70 R/T with a 440 made in LA.

-the manufacture date from the sticker on the side of the drivers door shows a manufature year as "1969", not sure of the month.
VIN#=JS23U0E114291.  Plug it into your VIN decoder.  You get 1970 Dodge Challenger, Special-R/T, 440 375hp 4BBL made in LA  Nice car!!!!

The car they stole to replace it:
-VIN#=JH23L0E142751.  Which comes out to 1970 Dodge Challenger, High Price Class, 383 290hp 2BBL made in LA
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Pic #2 and 3 of my ARII 1/24 scale model car

in the end of vanishing point  the challenger turns into a 68 camaro and blows up!
The silver painted wheel and the rear quarter panel is a give away plus you can just make out the camaro name plate. At least the camaro was towed to its death by the 4th only remaining Challenger which was a 383 auto, they had to use it in a couple of desert scenes because the other manuals were broke, when Kowolaski gets into the car you can see the wide auto brake pedal but they just used a manual sound effects as he drives away.
