KellysCuda, it'd be a 1970 Model.
Chryco, do you have any idea as to where it was last seen?  I know there's an FM-3 AAR 'Cuda in a junkyard about an hour from me in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  The only problem is I don't know where this junkyard is located, other than it's somewhere around the Escanaba, MI area.  This car has been there since the early '80s, when the original owner wrapped it around a tree doing in excess of 140 mph. :eekbig: :newsad:

I live in Escanaba, if  you have any more info I could go looking, there are only like 3 junkyards in the area.  One of those (Willis salvage) was sold and most of the cars were sold for scrap (from what I heard), and the new owner maintains a small yard and takes alot of cars for scrap.  Other than that there is Universal auto, and Petes auto wrecking.

Wow, sorry about not responding to this sooner.  B5, one of my cousin's friends took a ton of photos at the junk yard and happened to include the photos of the FM-3 AAR in the photos.  I asked my cousin where exactly this yard was located, but all he knew was they were searching for unique cars around the Escanaba area. (he wasn't with them at the time, so it makes it that much harder to figure out where the yard was located.)
I don't know if you would be able to get a straight answer, but try getting a hold of Pierre Payant(sp) from Iron Mountain, MI.  He was one of the guys who took the photos and should be found over at www.moparnuts.com
98HD, your name doesn't happen to be Ed, is it?  I met a guy at a Norway, MI car show a couple years back who lived in Escanaba and owned a '70 Sublime 426 Hemi Challenger. (originally a 383 car)

Either way, I hope one of you guys could fix this car.  It probably is terribly rusty by now, not to mention the steering wheel was actually bent in towards the dash from the impact.  The passenger side still has a chunk of the dashpad missing where the passenger hit, too. :eekbig:

Nope, not ed.

I did end up poking around at a few yards here in town, but didn't find anything.

98Hd, I just thought I'd check because I had told him about this site, but never did see him around.  Not to hijack the thread too much more, but do you ever attend any of the car shows in the Iron Mountain/Kingsford area?  If so, maybe we could meet up sometime during the show and talk Mopar. (most the people around that area are Chevy or Ford guys, so they give me he!! whenever I try to talk about my Challenger. ::)

No, I haven't attended any of those shows, but definetally wouldn't mind.  I used to work in Iron Mountain for a few years, parents used to own a motel there.

Have you ever been to fun run?  Pretty big here in escanaba.

I've thought about it when the barracuda is done, it sounds like a great show.

Chryco, contact Barry Washington.  He runs the Challenger T/A registry.  I emailed him a couple of years ago on a 4 speed trans found in Ohio, and it was to one of the cars on the registry, but was listed as an auto???

IIRC, the large 3 digit ink stamp on the case will be specific to the Cuda/T/As, if it is a 4 speed you are talking about.

Here is a link with his email/phone info from his site:

my AAR 305231 was built April 14th 1970, the Trans Am cars were only built for two months in 1970, so it cant be a late 69 car.... my guess is it was built on the 15th... I'm no expert ...?

The trans am cars were built over 4 months actually, the pilot cars were made in February and the latest T/A on record has a SPD of May 5th. I am no expert either, I am still learning new stuff. :-)  Known AARs were built over three months, Feb. thru April.

I have heard of the VIN of your AAR before Rudy, but that is all. If you would like to register it please check out www.hamtramck-historical.com
