I think there is a concern that the supplied retainers and locks have not been of good quality and there is a danger that the keepers may pull thru the retainers

Both have to be a good quality...

Well I ordered 10 deg super locks and retainers for Summit Racing.  Should have all bases covered now.

I keep hearing on of dry guides.... Should I put alittle oil on the valves when I change the locks/retainers ?

I would use a assembly lube like the red bearing lube or white lithium on the guides / stems

Can 10* locks be put on with a simple removal of a 7* lock?  Or does the retainer need to be changed out also?  What about the valve?  Will it just accept the 10* lock w/out problem?

you need both locks & retainers
as long as the locks fit the groove on the valve just swap locks & retainers , make sure the reatiners are the same diameter as the springs & are designed for double springs if needed

UPDATE:

Changed out the locks and retainers for Comp 10deg pieces and glad I did.
The COMP 7 deg locks looked ok, but the retainers were alot thinner then the Comp ones.

Well, now once I get my Tranny problem solved, the parts are ready to go !!!!!
