rally light bar, neutral safety switch issue
« on: June 13, 2011 - 02:07:48 PM »
my rally light bar has a corroded light socket. cannot seem to find replacement. bulbs are plentiful. any idea?  I installed new harnesses (rebuilt dash harness off of ebay) front to rear and I hooked up a battery to the bulkhead hot wire (fused of course).  engine is not fully wired yet.  My lights all work fine and I got the road lamps to work.  I hooked up a new neutral safety switch and made a harness. bought new dash terminal connector and trans terminal.  should have bought the whole thing from penstar. grounded the brown wire, but still have no backup lights when I shift into reverse with ignition on.  correctly wired to the connectors on the firewall according to the wiring diagram.  anything I am missing? thanks.

thanks for the input.  I have a new rear light harness and new bulbs, so I do not think that is the issue.   Also new bulkhead connector and trans switch connector.  not a priority, so will fuss with it when I have time.

With the car off put it in reverse, then take a wire touch one end to the steel socket then the other end to bare metal somewhere on the body and see if the light comes on. That's how I discovered mine?

Reverse light should come on when the 2 ouside wires ar touched together on an automatic's neutral start switch, Or 2 wires shorted together on a manual tranny's reverse switch. One wire is 12v the other goes righ to the reverse light,  Use a test light and start at the blukhead 12v supply side.
