high beam switch
« on: June 13, 2011 - 02:35:33 PM »
I need some measurements of where the holes are for the high beam switch on the floor.  I did a search but found only one post...the picture was long gone.  Thanks

If nobody chimes in, I'll take a drive over and take a look at mine tomorrow for you.

I'd like to help, but after I replaced my floor, I just mounted it where I though would be a good spot, and I know with your resto, you are a little more particular than that.

Well I'm as useless as wet toilet paper. When I got over to my car, I realized I forgot my camera.   :banghead:

When I took off the kick panel, I measured 6.5" from the top of my carpet, and 3.5" out from the left. With kick panel installed, it was about an inch out. Then I got to thinking, is my carpeting original(no). So I don't know if I did anything good here, but I'll go back tomorrow WITH camera if you want me to.   :-[

You don't have to make a special trip.   If you're over there and think about it just snap a picture or two.  I still need to assemble the dash and install it so I'm not in a big hurry.  Thanks

Weren't we going to start a specific thread for things like this?(or maybe we did)  When this is figured out, we could post it there.  We can post the dimensions for the fender mounted turn signals, what all the firewall holes are for, factory drawings, axle measurements, torsion bar part #'s and colors...all in the same thread.  I would think a lot of people could use the info and it would be nice if it was in one place.

Maybe the thread could be locked so only a mod could update it.  That way you wouldn't have to search through a bunch of junk to find the pictures you want.  No question would be asked...it would just be a place to post the info/ factory drawings exc...  There is plenty of techical info on here that could be consolidated in one place.

The front floor is still in my 74 and I'll try to remember to get some measurements as to where the mounting holes are. Bear with me.

I got some measurements from two different people.  They are similar but not the same so there is going to be some variation.

One car had the top hole 1/2" from the floorpan seam.  The other car had the top hole 3/4" from the seam.  Both cars were basically the same distance from the metal ridge the kick panel butts up against.  Measuring from that ridge, the top hole is 2 3/4" to the right.  If anyone wants pictures posted to this thread let me know and I'll post them.
