possibly too much fuel added for mild accel now , do you have a set of cams ?
now you may want the pink 3 hole cam in position 1 to keep the added fuel to a minimum , could also be a timing stumble , or the power valve opening up too easily , where is the engine vacuum & power valve rating at , if they ae too close it could be opening too easily

Neil, thanks for giving me a direction. I dont have cams but i can get them! Timing w/o vac adv 30D @ 3000rpm as I recall. If I remember correctly power valve 4.5 & eng vac 11-12ish. Looks like a trip to the speed shops in order this morning. Maybe they got a pink cam in stock...

I believe I got mine in a kit. Just get the whole kit with an assortment of cams! :2thumbs:

:thinkerg:       Make sure the linkage for the accelerator pump is adjusted right too. Like that it's not half way into the pump already.

I'm a happy guy!  :cooldancing:  :cooldancing:  :cooldancing: Carburetoraly speaking anyway, I think I've finally hit the right combination.
I swapped in the pink for one that was sort of pink but just a little bigger. I did a liitle adjusting on the pump shot. Went about 50 miles this afternoon
in everything from city traffic to interstate. She was good and responsive in all traffic situations. And hasn't been this "dialed in" in all the years
I've owned her. Maybe I could tweak it a bit more, but I'm not! Thanks guys I really appriciate your help!  :burnout:

Just like the other woman in my life, things need tweaking now and again!  :grinyes: Here's a pic of the cams and I did check the vac too!

I would add some more timing as well, you should be in the 35* range at 3000 rpm unless you are getting pinging

I give her a bump today... rains on the way so I can set her up and test drive later. Thanks Neil!

it should respond better with more initial timing typically the bigblocks like 36-38* , the hemi is a bit less , milage should come up * heat should drop as well . It is raining here this morning as well but it is never cold when it rains here !!

update-  Sunday I brought the timing up to 35D. I cant say I heard any pinging (dammm loud pipes  :smilielol: ) but she didnt seen to like it much and my
bog came back. We put on about 50miles on Saturday and she was all good. So that afternoon I backed her off 32-33D. I had some time tonite, figured lets
go for a test run. Rain is on the radar but I figure a quick 15 minute test run awta tell me what's goin on. I'm not out 5 minutes and its raining to beat the
band. I probly sucked 2 gallons of water down the shaker - thats how hard it was raining.  I'm still wet but shes dry an back in her stall. Another day... we'll try it again!

usually a bog improves/ diminishes with more timing as the engine responds better as you found out
