Uh oh? Startup knock?

I just came in from changing the oil. When I first went to start it up I heard a slight knock till the oil pressure gauge started moving? :scared:
 After oil pressure built up (70psi cold.... 40 hot) I held the throttle open and didn't hear anything? Up to 4 grand?
Anything to worry about?

Maybe the 451 will have to come sooner rather than later? :pullinghair:

That's normal, although your heart may skip a few beats. Even my new Challenger does it. You can try adding some oil into the new oil filter before you put it on to avoid this.

Yeah it's normal, I always pull the coil wire and turn it over a few times then hook it back up and start it.  Matt

Oh good! glad to hear that! :grinyes:  I just got in from a cruise night and gave her a few GOOD launches on the way home , shifted at 6 grand, figuring if yer gonna blow do it now before I drive to Carlisle!  :burnout:  My son loved it, some retarded "ricer" tried to keep up ( he was behind us) Gosh I love torque and RPM!  :-*

I have a guy that seems pretty serious about buying my Buick...so I'm starting to think about  that 400 block,aluminum stage 6 Mopar heads, and a Milodon gear drive ( Thanks Al!) I've been saving for a rainy day...

 No nothing that serious, just a healthy street engine. I do love Jason's aluminum block though! That would shave some weight off the nose! :2thumbs:

fill up the filter before spinning it on...that will bring the pressure up a few seconds quicker...

True, but the dumb fitler design , (90 degrees) , sure makes a mess removing the filter so I guess you could fill it half up maybe?

I still own a couple of Buicks, and had four at one time, all with the same mount as yours...I always fill them up just as I do my Challenger...fill them close to the top, flip them over, spin them on.   The media does not allow it to immediately dump out and the spin creates centrifugal force that keeps it in.  Never made a mess yet.

I'll give that a go next time!  :2thumbs:  On my 455 Buick I went with a remote filter to avoid that issue and because it just didn't fit in the chassis! LOL ( 1986 Regal)

Side note to something on this thread - Brad, think about Indy EZ heads instead of the Stage 6 unless you get the latter for a sweetheart deal. Indy has angled plugs and a better quench design. Think they flow about the same. Indy's use stock low deck intakes as well. Need a 440 intake with Stage 6 on B block. I bought my EZs through Muscle Motors in Michigan - Eric. He just gathers all the info on the phone about your motor then gets heads done for that application. Been over 7000RPM now and no problems.
