What about the color of the backside of the grille shell?  Seems in the pics they are black, but OEM is more pale gray.

we talked about it but he hasnt made up his mind yet, he was leaning towards the grey last time i mentioned that.

Hello Folks...
Sorry I don't post much.... just a little busy running all over the country meeting you(our customers) and suppliers..

Here is the scoop on the grille from the horse's mouth..

The Grille will cost 900.00..
It will come unpainted
It will come with all stainless trim..
It will be molded in gray plastic
the cheese graters will not be attached to the grille but will have studs/clips to attach

Some tooling marks were in the test grilles... they are there simply because you don't want to waste time polishing a mold if there is a possibility of a change.
These grilles have never been sold or advertised on EBAY
Being considered test pieces (and disposable) the samples sent to us were not packed very well and thus some damaged in shipment...  but being true to the original it is just as fragile if handled improperly.

We do hope to have production grilles in the next 90 days or sooner....

hope to see you at the Nats

Thanks

Umm....although $900 is a good price, why not make it right?  SOme people actually care when they pop the hood of the car, for things to look correct.

Part you'll never see?

Sheesh, you a little sensitive?

And yes, I could use this grille since mine is all cracked to hell.

Do YOU even own a '71 'Cuda??? ::)

Can someone give me some input as to why or how this is better then the repo grill that is already out there. Car I am working on came with a new repop grill still in the box.

Depends on whom made the grille you have, If it is the PPR grille from years ago, they were hit and miss on fitment and those were resin poured not injection molded. these will be way better then those produced earlier. Use what you have and if it doesnt work out buy one of these.  only a few members have chimmed in about needing a grille? do we think need a poll on when purchasing and whom, will be?????

Sounds good and thanks for the info Dave. We are at the stage right now of preasembly of the front end so we will see how it goes. First thing that we ran into already is the slots that are in the Goodmark header panel are wrong. The two end slots the square opening that the plastic clip goes in is on the wrong end of the slot so I have to rebuild them, seems to be the norm with all this repop stuff that you have to remake it to get it to work.

i asked goodmark on the header issue on the 71 vs 72-4 and they said that the onlt difference was the out mount in reversed 72-4 but basically the header is the same, hence modifying the hole that you have, AMD has a 71 separate from 72-4

Yea it is something Goodmark should fix then. It really can't be used as is because the plastic clip ends up right in the square cut out to line up with the grill instead of being able to slide it into the slot. Not a big deal probably a 1/2 hour to fix it right just maddening when you buy this stuff.

they wont retool just for that, they just need to change the listing to 72-4 only. even now that they are i restructuring.
