it is all specualtion of the whole thing. no body knows for sure it is a mute point.

Im wondering if Plymouth actually made the grille for the 71's.  Maybe  a subcontractor did?

Anyhow, Im just wondering when the new ones will be available to the public.  Anyone now the current status of the possible corrections made since the Mopar Nats?

Agree with Dave, mute point.  However, after the mold was obsolete, it was probably more valuable as scrap metal at the time.  Nobody knew the value of the grilles to come back in the day.  Probably a boat anchor today.

Just to quell fears for a little longer... the grills are still in development.  You haven't heard anything new in awhile, because there just isn't anything new to tell.

We will be selling these grills once we are satisfied with them.

What about other replacement grills for different years, or tube type customs or anything but that crappy plastic look; sheesh,,, they are an original mess, why honor the mistake, to not use aluminum stampings? They paint them aluminum "argent", to appear durable, just leave them raw plastic, because no one is fooled. Put more stickers, like cartoon characters and all the tacky **** that was ever available all on one car.
The grill is the worst part of the 70's cudas. Painted plexi would look as good. Metal would be best.

I have to agree.  I can't stand plastic on certain parts of vehicles; mainly the front and rear panels.

My guess is that the market for such a one-off for a 71 cuda would be very limited, so you'd be on your own building one.
Now, if youre talking about an aluminum cuda type grill for a late model challenger, your odds would be better.

With the variations in fenders, Panel above the grill, Valance, ect.....I can't imagine trying to get an alum or steel grill to fit with out major work at all. It is hard enough to get a plastic one that you can flex and bend some what to fit nice.

My point was just from my hopes and dreams list.  I would be buying a repro '71 cuda grill no matter what it is constructed from.
