Just saw that Metro has dropped the item from their site. Any idea as to why?

This looks to be their second batch and will be ready by August-September. however it doesn't look like they raised their prices like they said that were going to. So thats good. ordered mine yesterday  :)

Price will go up on the secong run, The MFG miss quoted tooling cost and is eating it on the first run only. looking at another 2-300 increase on the next batch,

The site says:

A Pre-Order guaranties you a grill, and locks in this price.  The first batch of 100 grilles are being manufactured right now, and due to increased manufacturing costs the retail price will be increasing after this initial run to $1100.

This listing is for the second and last shipment from our first batch of grilles.  We expect to be fulfilling these orders in August-September.

So....there you go.

The first shipment from the "first batch" probably a July shipment??? if they're saying the 2nd shipment from the first batch is Aug/Sept.

I'm assuming a "batch" is a group of produced product.   So maybe the Chinese producers are going to eat it on this first "batch" from the misquote.  The subsequent batches will be more money b/c the producers won't produce until they get paid accordingly.

So...it still looks like you can get them for $900 if you pre-order from this first batch.  Wish I had more money as I'd buy another one.

$1100 is a good price still.

Back in 78-79' I bought one of the last if not the very last NOS 71 grilles over the counter.
It was I recall around $900.00 back then.
