july now.

Sorry, I'm confused....  :dunno:

mopardave, are you telling us to be patient and wait until August?...or are you as unpatient as the rest of us?
Guess we're all expecting some kind of feedback on the FIRST batch, due in May, and we all TRULY hope it's all positive.

Maybe am I missing something???
If so please guide me in the direction of finding out how good these new grilles are, written by someone who has purchased it...

none of these have been to to general public, only grille that are out are the prototypes. only thing i can really say on time line is, they will get here when they get here. I/we have been waiting for them for 4 months now. couple of the delays are legit but i have no other response for the delays, concidering when a new part comes to marketthat is or has a good deman, everyone wants one now, so yes pateince is a good thing here. no other alternative out.

So is it safe to say they are on the.....wait for it.......Slow boat from China? Honestly though, these are a first and so far looking like they are (fitment and finish to be determined) worth the wait.

I have been watching this subject for quite awhile now.  Myself, I never buy until a new product until it is actually available, by that I mean until I see at least a first run line, (more than one or two) actually seen by myself, or has been installed by a few previous customers

I'm sure I'm opening myself to flaming, but I can certianly understand those who might purchase them without actually being avaialble yet due to the unique nature of the grill:  Its hard to pass up on the opportunity on the possibility to get one

But the comment that follows concerns me:,  "They will get here when they get here",  sure doesnt sound very customer oriented, nor does it sound like anyone really knows what/when the status of arrival will be.   Its been delayed at least 2 times so far.................

I remember a crew awhile back that said they had them, received payment, and they just disspeared:   Not saying by any means that this current company is doing the same thing:  But I am saying you cant blame the folks that have paid now for asking the status, and really not getting a detailed explanation of what the status is.

Before I get thermited, take a long look at the post trail of this subject:   Promise, then delayed, then delayed again, with no real, detailed  explanations of why the delay or where they are being made:  Especially considering the fact that folks responded quick and paid for them upfront when orders were first taken, months ago......

The folks that have paid upfront so far deserve a more detailed explanation.  If one cant be provided, then the comment they will get here when they get here is what the folks that have paid will just have to sit and simmer on.   But to me, thats not fair or customer friendly:   Customer loyalty upfront deserves more in return

All I ask in retrun to this post is to give the paying customers a more detailed of the "5 W's":   So far, most of the "where are they" responses have been somewhat blunt and vauge

Do I want one?  You bet.....     But I dont have a solid feel of what is going on at this time, and I dont beleive those who have paid do either...........

Since I dont have a solid feel yet, I keep looking for an OEM one that I can restore

I dont know any of the folks involved in the biz side of this product, and I dont doubt thier honesty at this point:   But I am dealing with the info that has been passed out so fa,r and it is vauge and seems not very customer friendly

We all know the actual manufacture is slow and reasons are unknown to why they keep changing the dates of availability. I only pass along information as i get it. it is still better than nothing. As for customers that have paid. i can tell you we have about 30 grilles on order and we have not asked one customer to make a full or partial payment. they are all on a contact list and will be notified once they are in. if they are still interested then they buy it. If this was the case with other suppliers, we would have taken the money and just keep telling you it is back ordered. As for the comment of '"they will get here when they get here" so dont take this out of context as sarcasm. it is just a fact.
Like all restoration parts that come to market it is always a hurry up and wait, Look at AMD's fenders for the e-bodies. trickle in and still not right and still back ordered. Have they stopped taking orders and money probably not. the biggest mistake that the mfg's make is to leak out to get interest or pre sell.  My suggestion when we gave them an OE grille to get this started over 2 years ago was to not say anything until they are ready for sale. The grilles will eventually be here and for sale. A note to that if it hasnt been stated already is that after the intial 100 grilles are gone and sold, then next run of grilles the pricing will go up as the MFG miss quoted the tooling. looking at additional 200.00

Being a gamer geek I see this all the time with games. They set a release date of July 1st and then it gets moves to Sept 15th and so on and so on.
I can see why people are annoyed because they aren't getting much info, but if Metro gave a reason for the delay there would be doubters about the honesty of the reason while other people would just say 'I don't want to hear your excuses, I just want my grille'. There are lots of possible reasons for the delay, and lots of them are internal business reasons that the customer doesn't need to know.
Since I haven't heard that the company has gone out of business I'm happy with the 'they'll get here when they get here' explanation. I'm pretty sure that when they get here Dave will be posting to let everyone know

 :iagree:

Dave will be the first person to announce their availability.  Don't fret and we all have no choice but to be patient.  I feel your anxiousness, but all these postings of what is going on with the grille is not helping.  This is obviously not an easy part to duplicate and the manufacturer does not want sell bad stuff and then all hell will break loose from the buyers.

OK,  just spoke to Metro/Joel he had a couple final grilles flown in for the carlisle show, so if your out there stop but and take a look at the final product. He did say that the initial grille shipment is on the water NOW so it generally takes 21 days from port to port and roughly 3 days to clear customs. So we should be seeing the stock at the end of the month. I will be seeing the final grille tuesday when he stops by here.

I did see them at Carlisle at the Metro display. They look great, but I'm no expert.  :grinno: :grinno:

Metro had a stand at the recent Moparfest (last weekend) and I saw one of the grilles sitting on their table, right there. Since I don't have a 71, I didn't inquire as to cost and the only thing he said about them was that they were a bit thicker and of better material where they needed to be. Grey plastic, very smooth. looked like a quality part and had the cheese graters in it, that's all. Hope that helps. Ian

I know I have been getting antcy (sp?) i ordered the 2nd shipment which is supposed to be between August and September. So I still have another month to go yet.... of course after that it will just sit for a while, No work has started on my car yet other than disassembly, but I have amassed a bunch of parts  :money:
