Shoulder belt stowage clips-need pictures!
« on: June 16, 2011 - 10:52:10 AM »
I was careful to mark the location of the shoulder belt stowage clips before installing my headliner but I failed to take pictures of how they were installed in the first place.  Now I can't remember which clip went where and the orientation.  Anyone with detailed pictures and explanations.  Thanks, PK

Hey Guys---I still need some help on the shoulder belt stowage clips and and how they work.  I think there are two types--one for holding the belt and the other for the tongue end.  Could use a
picture or illustration.  PK

I think some years used two different sized retainers.  The ones on my 73 were the same size.  One bracket was black and the other was plated though.   The bracket that is larger goes to the rear.  On mine, two brackets were opened up more then the other two.  I put those to the rear since they hold the buckle.

For some reason, I couldn't get the sharp locating tab to line up correctly.  When the tab was in its hole, the bracket was all turned weird.  The brackets under the headliner had never been removed so I don't know what the problem was.  I tried swapping the brackets front to rear and side to side but they just wouldn't work with those tabs inplace.  I just ended up removing the tabs on all four of the brackets.

Burdar, thanks a bunch!  The pictures and comments are a big help.  Yea, I really couldn't find a place for those little spurs either. I see your interior light lense is nice and white.
Mine is kind of yellow. Guess I need a new one.  PK

My original lense was cracked so I bought a new one.  I've heard that you can soak those lenses in bleach to whiten them again.  If your original one isn't cracked, that might be something to try.  I'm going to try it with the plastic lisence plate retainers.
