I am not looking for an exact horsepower figure.   I was wondering about a rough educated guess.
I am typing from my cell phone so sorry about not relisting the engine specks.   There should be enough information in past posts though.

Thanks

if the machine work is done well & using a good set of matched parts you cold see over 600 HP & 700 Ft lb gross rated , or over 375 Hp & 440 Tq at the rear tires on a mustang dyno which read low

Just one quick question.   I ordered the 440>>512 stroker kit from 440 Source with -27cc pistons.   Did I mess up?   Should have got the -17cc pistons?   Cast iron 906 heads and I want to run pump gas.   I want a reliable engine but not a powerless running car either.

Thanks

Call back & change the piston .the 5060 or better yet the 5070 would work best with an Iron 88 cc head

How will that effect the balance of the kit if I change the pistons?

Ask 440 source what the piston weight is , Have you got the kit yet ?

Yeah,  I already have the whole kit.   Crank, rods, and the pistons.

you can easily match piston weight , just find the weight of the original pistons & make sure the new pistons weigh the same

After giving it a lot more thought,  I am going to just stay with the pistons that I have.

The original idea of this build was to make an engine that would start every time and take on cruises.   Not drag race or "tear it up" on the street.   I think the lower compression will be just fine for that.   Using gas from any pump appeals to me more than going fast these days.   If I was to get fast, I can go in my 392 Challenger.   It would be a lot safer with its traction control and ABS anyway.

I guess I was just having a little buyers remorse.   I am over it now.

Thanks

I disagree , the higher compression with better quench is a better combo to kill detonation & work better even on a street engine

I was ordering the kit based on what my machinist told me to get.   I know that a 906 head should have a volume right around 88cc.  I was thinking my machinist said my heads had been shaved at some point in the past.   Somewhere in this whole process I got the idea that my heads cc'd out to 84cc.  I will have to double check when I get back to the states in a couple of days.

Sorry about spelling and grammar.   I am using my cell phone.

My machinist knows a lot more about this than me and I am sure I am missing something that I should be telling you.

I know that this is the third time this block has been rebuilt and my machine guy had me get 0.55 over on the bore.

If you have any questions that will help you help me,  please ask.

Thanks again.

well the Most important aspect is quench , I have seen low 9:1 compression engine detonate hard all due to the relief in the 906 heads / open chamber , you need to get the piston into the .040 - .060 range with the head to kill detonation , so more compression is better as long as you have good quench . Living at high altitude I have been able to run as high as 10.6:1 on pump gas with quench & no detonation

Ok, more problems.
I got the hemi style 6 quart oil pan from 440 source and the oil pick up tube that fits that pan in 1/2 inch.   I have resized the threaded myself into a 1/2 inch commitment.

Problem is, it won't work with the stroker windage tray also from 440 source.

I could go with the 7 quart oil pan and tube but I already have the 6 quart pan.
Or I could go with out the windage tray.   I really want to use a windage tray.

Any ideas?
