OK so I am not sure but I think you opened the hole in the block to 1/2 , I would not have done that , I would have left it 3/8 , you could install a bushing go back to the smaller 3/8 tube which should easily clear or start clearancing the windage tray or bending the pick up tube to make it all fit , I would definately retain the windage tray , it is important

Yeah,  it's 1/2 now.   I guess I'm going to have to play with it a bit.

The hemi pan and 440 6pk pan were the same. One used a 3/8ths pickup the other a 1/2.  Using the windage tray will be a simple mod for you.

if you are going hyd Lunati 60303
if solid or roller we can tailor a grind that suits you

Ok, I know that I have not kept you guys updated very well but things have been slow going.  I have the lower end put together and have been waiting to get my heads back from the machine shop.  I have not been in too much of a hurry with the engine because the body work has been taking longer than I thought.  I guess the devil is in the details, right?  The attached picture is just an example.  My bumper jack sub-project.

Anyway,  Based on your recommendation, I am going to use a Lunati 60303 cam.  In the last couple of weeks, just about everyone that I have talked to locally thinks that the cam will be too small.  Can you give me a warm and fuzzy about this cam?  Are you sure this is the right cam for my build?

440 source 512 stroker kit, 1/2 inch oil pickup with Hemi style oil pan, Melding High volume oil pump, Rhoads lifters, 906 iron heads, TTI 1 7/8 headers and 3 inch pipes all the way back.  Dynomax mufflers, six pack carb setup, 727 torqueflite automatic trans., stock 2000-2500 rpm torque converter, 3.23 rear end gears.

Thanks again for all you time and help.

By the way, trimming the windage tray was really no big deal...lol

Just thought that I would let you guys know where I am on my project.  I would move this to the members projects, but I just don't have it in me to start this thread all over.  So here you go.  It is basicly out of the paint shop.  There  are a few odds and ends (mostly trim) that I am working on.  The motor is not in it yet.  I think it came out pretty sharp.  What do you guys think?

It all looks great!   Are you going to break in the motor with
those headers? I've heard horror stories about destroying the ceramic coating
when using them on the breakin. Not totally sure about that though. Maybe
someone else can comment on this. I just hate to see you ruin a nice set of headers
it it could be avoided.  :dunno:
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Those headers are just on for show right now,  for the sake of the picture.  The oil filter is going in the trash also.  I bought a couple of WIX filters.  The game plan is to start the engine with a known good four barrel carb and my old rusty headers for initial start and cam break-in.  After that, I plan on putting the 6-pack back on and tuning.  I hope to have a good solid running engine when I drop it in the car.

I would rather that you did not look too closely at the engine picture, but if you do, you may notice that the carbs are not hooked up or bolted down.  I just kind of stacked up the engine to see what it was going to look like.  I still have a way to go to get it all done.

This picture shows the color a little better...

I had a little trouble with one of my healight trim rings, but it installed now.  It is missing in this picture.

You can see the overhead powerlines reflected in the paint.

:iagree: The Hedman Elite headers I put on warned against using them during engine break-in when the hedders are new. Its the initial heat cycle of the hedders that is important to the ceramic coatings longevity/colour.
