Pull off the rocker covers and check the lash.

Hydraulic or solid cam? Brad's advice is good. Also, put a dial indicator on the rocker arm and confirm the lift is the same on all comparable cylinders. The intake and exhaust may differ. but should be the same among their type.

You can use a remote starter and watch to see if any rockers do not move as much as the others?  Not as good a method, but can work if not all lobes are wiped.

with Mopars  you can pull the lifters using a strong magnet through the openings in the head & look at them without removing the heads

You can also install the lifters the same way if you ever forget to put them in before you silicone the intake down, paint the motor, and install the distributor. So I have heard, anyway!

If you do find a flat lobe I'd pull the motor and have the block vatted out. Most of the time you can just clean out the pan and replace the cam and lifters, but if enough metal goes through you can also wipe a rod or main bearing.
