Lot's of good opinions on the Dougs headers here, sounds like you did well there.  Good exhaust system for least $$, don't know if I can help you there too much.  Have heard some bad things about the Summit branded pipes here so don't think I'd go there to save money, heard nothing but good things about the Magnaflow & TTI systems but wouldn't call those inexpensive.  I'm planning on one of those two systems myself when I get to that point with either of my cars because I want to do it once with minimal hassles.  I'll be interested to see what others say here myself.

Call a few of the muff shops in your area.  I do not remember the exact dollar value, but I was able to get 3" mandrell bent stainless with lifetime for less than 500 bucks.

Heard of them, but nothing else.  Hopefully someone else will chime in with some info.  You could always Google them and see if there's any threads on other sites about them.

cool. with a well built 360 producing about 450hp, will 2.5" be enough exhaust?

You would probably gain at least a little peak HP with a 3" exhaust at that level, but personally I think if you're going with a mandrel bent tubes, x-pipe, low restriction exhaust system the 2.5" should still work great on the street and probably give you a little more torque where you'll actually be running the engine in the low & mid rpm ranges at the expense of a HP or two in the extreme top end.   That's my  :2cents:

I made my own totaly mandrel bent system using Summit 3 inch X-pipe.  Mandrel bent 3 inch from Doug's headers thru X-pipe, then reduced to 2 1/2 inch aft thru Dynomax super turbo muffs under rear seat, then on to Magnaflow round straight thru muffs along side fuel tank.  No droning, you can talk with your partner anytime until you floor it.

You have 3" -> Muffler -> 2-1/2" -> muffler?

I went with a Pypes system. I like it good value for the price I went with the under the valence type. Only thing I wasnt crazy about was the pipes dont line up with the notches on the valence. I had to have a pair of custom pipes bent to connect to the headers,but I think that is the case with any kit you buy. If you get the tips that go through the valence the Pypes logo is etched in on them some folks don`t care for the logo myself included. It might buff out I don`t know for sure though.

3 inch reduces to 2 1/2 inch just after the X-pipe, then 2 1/2  continues thru two mufflers to tailpipe.
