Dome light question
« on: June 22, 2011 - 01:50:19 PM »
I am still trying to determine if I have a bad dimmer swich or headlight switch or both. When I noticed that with the dimmer switch and headlight switch unplugged my dome light still lights up with the door open. The light does go out when the door is shut like it`s supposed to. Is that right?
I thought with the switches disconnected the dome light would be out. Right now I have a jumper in place of the dimmer switch for a bypass and some copper wire wrapped around the bottom contacts on the headlight swich everything works fine like this except no way to dim the instrument lights not that I would want to since they are dim enough to begin with.

The dome light should go on / off by opening / closing the door at all times.

The dome light function from the dimmer switch must be on a different, 3rd circuit.

Maybe it is on another circuit I just wasn`t sure. I`ve had a few electrical issues lately and when I noticed this it made me scratch my head  :clueless: wondering if it was right.
