What intake for an LA 318 with Magnum ('92-up) heads?
« on: June 22, 2011 - 06:50:42 PM »
Does anyone know the Edelbrock intake part number for an LA 318 using Magnum heads?  I'm looking for an air gap style or at least a good dual plane manifold instead of an all out race manifold like a single plane.

Thanks!

Any intake specified for a Magnum engine will fit.  The Magnum 318 and 360 heads are identical and the LA blocks will meet with the inlet just like a Magnum block would.  I have Magnum heads on an LA 360 with a dual plane Mopar M1 inlet, it seems a good street inlet, don't know about any others.

 :iagree:

Mopar Performance P5007381 or Edelbrock 7577.   Port cross sections might be a little large for a 318, meaning some loss of low end torque.  Best option there is DO NOT cut down the center divider on the intake manifold, and do not use an open carb spacer under the carb.   I'm using the Edel 7577 intake on my 360 with  open air cleaner like used on late 60's 440's.   Clearance between air cleaner top and R/T hood is about 1/2 inch.....had to carefully fit the air cleaner stud/wingnut to be sure to not dent the hood:)

Thanks!  I'm going with the 7577 as it seems that everybody has good things to say about it.

Yes, I think I would have gone for that one if I didn't already have the M1 as part of a larger bunch of parts I bought.
