New Challenger Owner
« on: June 22, 2011 - 07:08:50 PM »
After looking for a few years, I managed to find a challenger for sale nearby that was in good shape, numbers matching, 4 speed, and within my price range. It's a 1974 that someone dropped a lot of money on a custom paint job on in 1979.

I've been doing some minor repairs to it after work and on the weekends and this site has been an invaluable resource!

Welcome! That's looks very cool!  :cooldancing: Are you going to keep the paint ? Usually I'm not into the "retro" paint jobs but that one looks not bad.

Welcome to the site Jamiez.  That is a different style of painting we haven't seen before.  How about some side shots and other views.??  It does look different but the retro to 79 would be a good point to reveil at a car show or curise in...........Interesting........ :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

The paint is still in pretty good shape given it's 30+ years old.  It has some chips and a few spots could use some touch up work but nothing major.  So for now it's staying

Maybe in a few years when I've dealt with some other minor issues I'll look at taking it back to it's FE5 stock.

As for additional photos, I have these from the original auction.  Most of my photos have been documenting the things I have been fixing

If the weather holds, I'll see if I can't take it out this weekend and get some higher quality pictures.

It's iconic '70s.  Keep the paint job.  It's not too over the top and really does look good.

Looks like rain all weekend so while I was in the garage I took a better shot of the rear showing the gas cap. I always manage to put the cap on backwards when I finish filling up and need to switch it because the stripe doesn't line up.

Ya know.... I'm really "diggin" your paint! Totally retro!  :cooldancing:   Sure it's got some" war wounds" but it has character!  :2thumbs:  Get that thing to Carlisle! I'd love to see it in person!  :grinyes:

The paint grows on you and someone really must have put a lot of work into it back in 1979.

It's definitely not the car to drive if you don't want to get noticed.
