HID headlight housings

Hello i have a 74 challenger and i was wondering if anyone knew of a headlight housing kit that i would be able to install HID bulbs in? my current headlights just arent bright enough to see down the road.

I have yet to see a kit for HID(looks like one bulb w/housing run about $500ea  ) but there are plenty of 5.75" halogen conversion housings on the market, once you find the housings upgrading them does not seem to be an issue.
You may find the halogens sufficient.

Just use a Bosch type H1 or H4 housing & install the HID bulbs into those

Might want to read this, sometimes our dim headlights are caused by the wiring.

I used (2) H4 conversion headlights from Pilot, on my hardtop. With headlight relays they are bright enough and you didn't have to spend $500 for HID lights. I used 4 similar ones on my convertible.

You might try DDM Tuning. That's where I bought my HID's for my Neon. They carry alot of different type kits. The prices are real good and the product is top notch.

Are you using h4/9003 bulbs in all four, or single filament bulbs in the two "high beams"?

I use (4) H4 dual filament bulbs but only use the 2 outer pins in the high beams. I cant remember if I just turned the plug upside down or bent the middle terminal out of the way. Either way, you'll have 2 spare low beam bulbs if needed.

that would certainly be an easy way to do it...wondering what would happen if you used two relays...one to power four low beams and one to power four high beams....

I see there are multiple selections of bulbs Halogen H4, 90/130 Watts, 55/100 Watts, 55/60 Watts
  also Xenon H4,90/130 Watts, 80/100, 55/60 Watts. All $24 or less a pair at Summitt Racing

What would be the most appropriate?

I think 55w is the max most allow for street use. As for the high beams put in as big as you want. You have to low beam oncoming traffic anyway.

 Painless does sell a relay kit that leaves the low beams on when the highs are on so you could set it up like that too.

with a plastic housing, one has to be careful to not use a bulb that generates so much heat that it melts the housing.

There also used to be some legality as I recall against using bulbs around 60 or 65 watts...not sure if that still stands

One also has to be careful not to overload the capability of the alternator.   four or five amps is about what each element draws...for a 60 watt filament
