71 Cuda Project resurrection
« on: July 01, 2011 - 05:38:37 PM »
After many years of sitting, it is finally going in to my shop.
Car was purchased in 1990.  Original owner is local to Tallahassee and to those that are still living...remember this car and it's owner back in the day.  Have original numbers matching drive train after searching hi and lo for them.  When I am done, the story will be posted as it was in itself an 'impossible' journey.  Car is a 383-4 speed E5 paint; build sheet was destroyed by the 'tenants' many years ago and fender tag is in storage somewhere...got to find it!

Welcome!!

Sounds like a fun story.

Better go find that fender tag.  Lest it suffer the same fate as the build sheet.

How about some more pics.

After much 'digging' through 20 years of rats nest material...I finally found the fender tag and one nice little forgotten nugget! ...Broadcast sheet...
As I indicated, I purchased this car in 21 July 1990.  Friend of mine was looking at 70 Super Bee; off in the weeds sat this car without the front clip (reason it is not in this pic btw).  Not a highly optioned car but ... good enuff for me.

Grille and lower valance insert.  Both are fairly decent - may do the re-pop just to be safe! Saw the Metro offering - anyone see one at Carlilse?

Welcome!  My first 'Cuda (1970) was a 383 4-speed car.   :2thumbs:  You'll find lots of help here with your restoration.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.  Matching numbers 440 U Code, 4 speed pistol grip, Rallye dash, AM 8 Track, Shaker hood, 15 inch rallye wheels, Dana 60 4.10, Super Track Pak.  One of 134 - 440 "U" coupes codes built in 1970 and one of 100 - 440 Super Track Paks built in 1970.

(Edited 8-1-17)

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

Decent options.  Nice color.

Good thing you have the broadcast sheet since the tag is in such bad shape.

Can't complain with a 383 71 !!

Can't wait to see more pics of your progress.

Welcom onboard.
Great to see another '71 saved
Your grille looks like it's in great condition.  I know the camera hides a lot, but, it still looks great.  Plenty of threads here covering how-to rebuild the grille, if needed.
Keep us posted with the Cuda's progess - lots of pics please

The Grille has a small 'bruise' on the upper tip and one ear is cracked from over tightening...
I will hang the front clip on the car for photos before I start tearing in to it.

BTW, glad to be a member.  I will post my progress.  More pics soon!
