Silly rabbit, when are you small block guys gonna learn...A 500 Cu. in. and a 4 gear would have more than made up for his 4 valve technology and been cooler too when smokin' the tires past his ass.... And wouldn't cost much more than a 408 Stroker.

My plans are for a gen 4 5.7L hemi, stroked out to 392. I'm hoping to be in the 500hp/tq area, and that's without the nitrous I want to ad

Some modern six cylinders can blow our doors off but I'll bet their cars don't put smiles on people's faces..
My little 3.0 straight 6 does it everyday.

2JZ Turbo enigne in Supra= $65K vehicle to outrun BB Wedge from 40 + years ago....

Gimme $65K and we'll see who's got the last laugh....It's like $10K just to get a junkyard dog needing everything with those cars.

A race is a race, regardless of age or money invested.Build and race what you can.

There are many fast cars with a lot of money invested, import and domestic .Also there are  many beaters, import and domestic that are very fast. And there are trailer queens with tons of money invested ,that would huff, puff, puke and break down if you put them on a road course or track .My 98 Supra has been a road course car for a good while, now it's been a daily driver for past three years, besides regular brakes, tires and clutch I haven't had any issues, I beat on it everyday and absolutely love it.

Now lets get back on topic, I don't think this thread title is "How much money do I need to build a car to win a race against X car" . Run what you brung! :burnout:

I agree with both your points remember the Wooly mammoth on Pinks ALL OUT! A procharger set-up from the procharger store would even out the mopar.

 :thinkerg:   LOL

And what was the MPG for the big block?  LOL  That guy in the caddy can probably be doing 20 mpg (miles per gallon) all day.   The 500 will do 20 gpm (gallons per mile).

As far as the cost -- keep in mind that the cost to swap from a small block to a big block is not just the cost of the engine itself unless you are starting from scratch with nothing.   I can get into a 408 Stroker crate for way less than a big block crate if you consider all the "incidentals".....that DOES matter.

If one's checkbook is un-ending then yeah, you are right as far as a 500 being surpreme.

 :iagree:

LOL

A couple of yahoos in a 4 door toyota pimpmobile cut me off in traffic and pulled in front of me at a light yesterday.....I had just been crusing along minding my business.

Well, they made the mistake of getting right after the light....dropped her into 1st and made the pipes ring......no problem.  LOL

Had I hesitated that pimpmobile would have claimed a "win".

:thinkerg:   LOL

And what was the MPG for the big block? First of all, I could care less as I'm in it to win, not b*tch about MPG..I have a Subaru for that... LOL  That guy in the caddy can probably be doing 20 mpg (miles per gallon) all day. Again, He can surely get 20 MPG, but he won't be showing me any tail lights and the last time I checked, nobody in a Caddy pulled up beside anybody and revved the engine and said "20 MPG baby, let's go for it"  The 500 will do 20 gpm (gallons per mile).    :bigsmile:Again, it will be in front of you doing just that..

As far as the cost -- keep in mind that the cost to swap from a small block to a big block is not just the cost of the engine itself unless you are starting from scratch with nothing.  Sorry, I got smart and set ALL my cars up for Big blocks, as ye' that starts with the most, ends with the most...Besides, the cost isn't that big a difference, when you have to upgrade everything to Guess what?? Big Block stuff to handle the extra power.... I can get into a 408 Stroker crate for way less than a big block crate if you consider all the "incidentals".....that DOES matter.

If one's checkbook is un-ending then yeah, you are right as far as a 500 being surpreme.Again, I call  BS...Cubic inches Rule on the street and track all else being equal..A stroker Small block is all but done @440 C.I.....I'm just gettin' Started with 440 C.I....I just cannot understand why the hell someone is willing to try and prove some thing with a small block, but there's always a few that have to see tail lights enough times to "Get the news"...MPG or not...It takes one helluva lot more $$$ to make a small block run where Big Blocks rule...In professional drag racing,[Where Mopar engines are used] there's a reason the distributor is up front ...

A race is a race, regardless of age or money invested.Build and race what you can. BS, Rich guys with ass loads of money will always be out front..You cannot outrun money..PERIOD..I've tried..Can't be done...

The thread isn't about imports Vs domestic either, but that doesn't stop someone from mentioning a 3.0 liter Supra in this thread now does it..It's about gettring your ass handed to you by a busted, Grandpa, Caddy Northstar V8 that is like 260-280 Cubic inches....

well anybody can lose one,,I can beat the  6cyc stangs with my 340 sb  if I dont hesitate lol  :poopoke:  :stirpot:  and if I really wanted to race it would be changed to a bb stroker,,but for now I like the one I have and aint looking for a race,,and those caddys are fast but in the long run its not a classic caddy but ours are classic mopars and we do have the best muscle cars out there,,and  they will  make
a rich woman beg for a ride
and make a good woman steal money to give you for a ride
and make an old woman blush when you pass them by in your  ride
and make a young girl squeal when you give them a ride
because there B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the bone And when I drive the streets
Kings and Queens pull aside
Every woman I meet wants a ride

and there aint a caddy out there or any foreign crap that can boast that so while they get there 20 miles to the gallon ,,I  will get my 11 miles to the gallon in finer ride and with a finer woman
:wavingflag: :canada: :nzflag:  :aussie: :england: :netherlands: :rebel: so drive on
