Is this a stock 360, or has it been built up some?

Joe, I agree with most of the guys here, I used to run a 735 or 750 Holley on my 340's and they worked well. Why is the Carter- 'cause that's what it is- running rich? Does the choke come off completely when it's warm? What is the fuel pressure at the carb? It should be 6-7psi-max. If the former are all kosher, then get a jet kit for the carb and step it down a couple of sizes at a time until it gets where you like. The carbs are very easy to service- lift off the top and the jets are right there. If you have access to a tailpipe sniffer, shoot for approx 14:1 air/fuel mixture at idle and 12.5-7:1 at power rpm. They're good carbs- Mother Mopar used them for years. Good luck :2cents:

Yea i had a 750 on there but decided to take it off and switch back to my 650. the 750 no matter how i tuned it just didnt have the power it seemed of the 650.  I still have to re jet my 650 and put a new power valve on and i believe that this should solve my problem. now its time to put the 750 back on my dads car.

Still not running right. tried putting that new power valve in the holly 650 then tried switching back to the 750 performance still running rich and now put on my old edelbrock 600 and even that runs rich. Were thinking the cam needs replacing seeing how we were gona do that anyways. any other suggestion before we go this extreme?

What initial timing & total timing at what RPM are you running?

Joe, the cam has zero to do with the car running rich. All carbs are running rich- check the fuel pressure and do you run with a regulator? The 650 probably ran better on a street car because of it's higher velocity which gives better mixture and ram effect. Do the basics and hopefully you'll find the problem.  :2cents:

the cam does effect the valve timing which with the the timing being off would cause it to run rich because it isnt breathing right. but have tried everything else so now its time to spend some money. i wanted to put new cams in eventually anyways.

the best vacuum i could get was by advancing the timing to the max (base timing 30 degres. total of 60 degrees at 2500 rpm) and only getting 18.2

19 " of iz the best a stock cam could do , vacuum bear 12 " is lots . It is not low vacuum causing the rich problem

Timing doesn't sound right. Read this and consider your base timing & mechanical advance http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=13018.msg132114#msg132114

I'm wondering if your primary's are not opened so much that your idling on the transition circuits.
