I have a water leak at my sending unit on a mechanical water temp gauge. Any ideas on how to stop it?

if it is leaking around the center of the sender, then I think replacement is your only real option

That’s what I thought but I was hoping. It is a new gauge and has been leaking since I put it in.  It is part of a 3 gauge cluster and cable is permanently attached to the temp gauge.

Remove the unit and check the back side.  You should be able to apply a sealer where the sensor enters the threaded bushing.  PK

I removed the sending unit applied teflon tape so that it hung below thread and coverd top of the sending unit. So far no leaks
