Have you ever smelled moth balls . How did you get their legs spread ?

:roflsmiley: I heard that joke at work!  Laughed my butt off!

I think my car has had mice in the majority of places in the interior: behind the seats, under the seats, in the rear quarters, headliner, ate part of my build sheet....  :swear:

Yes, the cowl area of my car was stuffed full of material from my rugs/seats.  Bad enough such that the material held water and rusted holes in the cowl.  :stomp:

I tried Irish Spring and dryer sheets this past winter.  I thought it worked but it did not.

Last year I tried moth balls and that seemed to work, at least at that time.

The way I know if it worked is that I also set glue boards in the car and see how many I catch.  Although scented, I put a little bait, like peanut butter, set one on the passenger front floor, rear seat area and trunk.  Caught 2 on the same board on the passenger front seat area so they might be more concetrated in the cowl area.

The little buggers can get into almost any area.  All they need is a 1/2" hole.

Some people say charcoal works.  I put a whole bag in the trunk.  No mice caught back there, but they were in the front passenger seat area.  :dunno:

I lost a '49 Studebaker to mice about 20 years ago. They ate a hole in the headliner in my Cuda near the back sail panel about 25 years ago - so much for the sun visor down idea. I found the only sure way to keep them from damaging the car (don't think there is ANY way to keep them out) is to bait plenty of snap traps with peanut butter, put them everywhere and stay on top of emptying/replacing them as they catch the little buggers. Sticky traps seem to work pretty good too but you have to add to their scent with peanut butter. No damage to any stored car since I've been following that route.

Yeah, that's the last resort. (for them also  :eek4:)  It's the only solution to rodents chewing up wiring in my tractors, boat, and Jaccuzzi. Anything left outside is fair game to them meecsez. Now if I could just get rid of this years roof rats. :swear:

Dave, I use charcoal under my cars (not the matchlite kind). Yes I've had mice that I've found (dead) but never had anything chewed... so far. And I've been doing it for YEARS!  :2thumbs:

I haven't had a mouse problem in years, since I got a cat(s).  I also use mothballs in and under the car.  Between the two, no mouse damage. :2thumbs:

A couple years ago DoNotChallengeHer suggested I use 'Irish Spring' original scent soap bars. I cut them in half and put four pieces in  the trunk, a couple under each seat and one in each air vent. Haven't seen mouse sign since. Worked so well I do the same thing for my 5th wheel. Same results. Try it!
I tried that and the little buggers ate it all then crapped all over. Luckly no damage though. This was in my Buick the Dodge was fine. An old timer around here says he gets a 5 gallon bucket coats the rim on the inside with peanut butter about 2" down. Fills the bottow with antifreeze about 6" or so , then a ramp up to the rim of some sort. He says he finds lots of drowned mice every spring and the antifreeze keeps the stink down as well as not freezing.  :dunno:

I know a guy that does that bucket trick also. Says it works wonders.
That might be worth trying.

I did the bucket trick but I didn't use antifreeze/water and the little buggers jumped out of the 5 gallon bucket!  I didn't want to kill them, wanted to keep them as little pets in the garage...
